Have any of the other hotels started doing family rooms now apart from the DLH and Explorers? We need a room for 5 and don't want to stay at the Explorers as we hate the bus melee and prefer to be lakeside so we can just walk over to the parks, and the DLH is really a bit over budget. Surely it's about time Disney realised that lots of families have three children now, it's hardly a rarity and they should start to cater for us families of 5.

I totally agree with you...

If you have a kid under 3 you can stay in santa fe....young child it the (free) travel cot.

If one of the children is under 3 you can stay in any of the hotels, it's once they are over 3 you are limited. Mine are 3,6 and 7 now. Certainly not old enough to stay in a room on their own, and myself and my hubby don't want to sleep in separate rooms on holiday either.

I believe the Newport Bay has a few family rooms that will sleep up to 6, but they don't come cheap.

This is one of the reasons why we first chose Davy Crockett Ranch :)

We stayed in the Dlh and booked 2 rooms as there were 5 of us and is wasn`t cheat at all-in fact it was 600 more than any other hotel,on the last day the Eurostar was cancelled and Disney accomodated us for 1 more night,we were put in a family room in Newport Bay and it was 2 double beds and a pull out double sofa bed ,the room was lovely and plenty of room ,in fact we said that if we were going to go by Eurostar again we would stay in the N.P.Bas it was about £600 cheaper than the DLH and in our opinion as nice!
The only other option is to self drive and stay at the Davy Crockett Ranch which is what we`re doing in March, great for families of 5 and you can self cater as well!

We were told they only did the 5th child in Santa Fe hotel:rotfl: I'm thinking I mis heard them...thank for the info. XXX

Just out of curiosity, roughly how much more does a family room at NPB cost above the standard price? I tried asking the customer services on the booking line but as they were all booked he couldn't give me an idea of price.

Many thanks

Thanks but we don't want to drive, we want a bit of luxury...just not DLH levels of luxury/cost! :) I like the idea of the NPB, and I love the hotels around the lake and the stroll through the village in the morning to the parks.

Thanks everyone!

You could try the Marriot.

It's offsite too but as it's the first pick up on it's bus route the bus journey is usually fine. It only shares the bus with the Radisson.

Here are some piccies

Is this the Marriott Vacation Club? I have a room booked here for January and wondering about the shuttle bus service. I haven't been able to find out much about the shuttle on the boards here for the Marriott. Does it go to parks early...if you stay late, is there a easy way to get back? I'd appreciate any info as I am not sure if I should cancel and book a DLP hotel. Since it will be January I was worried about the shuttle bus not running as much.
Thanks.

We've stayed at the Marriott a few times and did use the shuttle bus once. There are buses running early and late but the problem we found was that they don't run very regularly and it was annoying having to catch a certain bus because there wouldnt be another for an hour or two! Luckily we had a hire car so we just used that the rest of the time.
There is also a private shuttle bus which you can hire but I'm not sure on the cost of this.
