We'll be at VB for a week in June with two families--4 adults and 5 kids (ages 9, 5, 4, and two 2 year olds; 4 boys and 1 girl.) Can someone recommend family-friendly restaurants in the area? We'll probably hang around the resort most days and will eat breakfast/lunch in the Villas, but we'd like to have dinners out. Also, are there any entertainment options in the area for the evenings or rainy days? E.G. Movie theaters, miniature golf, other special-interest attractions, etc. Thanks for your help!

The last time I was there they had a book in the concierge area that had menus from recommended restaurants. Most of the places give a discount, free drink, free desert and sometimes a choice between a couple of choices. Many restaurants in VB, as in HH, offer early bird specials. We went to Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty and had a nice meal. It's be a couple of years but I believe a full dinner with salad bar, tea/soda, choice of several entrees and a basic desert (choc mouse or ice cream) was around $9.99 or so. The DVC special was a free desert. The waitor said he'd box it up for us so we took back key lime pie and peanut butter pie. It was a nice place, good meal and a nice enough place for a couple out but still casual enough for a family. Mr. Manatee was more casual if I recall. Ocean Grill is good for an adult night out. Did not enjoy Cpt. Hirams.

The restaurants on property are quite good though somewhat expensieve in the Disney tradition.

For rainy days (or just for fun), there is a large mall that includes a movie theater out on State Road 60. There is also a large outlet shopping area in the same area. However, that is all outdoors.

There is also a live theater in Vero. Here's their link for more info

Riverside Theater

We go out to the outlet mall area. There are many family friendly restaurants there. There is also a Super Wal Mart nearby for breakfast and snack food purchases.

There is mini-golf right on site - the course is near the pool. Don't remember the price, but I do remember you could get a "length of stay" minigolf pass that was quite reasonable.

We ate at a restaruant in VB right on the water called "Crusty's". Thought the food good and the price reasonable. Lots of families were there, but we ate early. It seemed to be popular so you might want to go early, too.

Enjoy your stay!
