"Family Plans" go Prepaid!

Net10 is in the middle of a re-branding initiative -- and part of it is the introduction of family plans -- all prepaid!

The new family plans being offered are:

• 2 people (phone lines) for $90 a month
• 3 people (phone lines) for $130 a month
• 4 people (phone lines) for $170 a month

All plans include unlimited talk/text/data (realistically, I am assuming a 2GB per month limit on each line) and are available on Net10's devices (of which many are Android phones), or you can order a SIM card from Net10 and put it inside the AT&T or T-Mobile phone of your choice, to include the AT&T version of the iPhone.

MetroPCS has been doing this for years. They give a $5 per-line family plan discount on their regular rates, which start at $40 unlimited everything for non-smartphones and $50 unlimited for Android. So for two basic phones is it $70, two Androids $90, etc. We've been paying $115 for 3 lines for over a year now. The downside with them is that they aren't SIM based so you have to buy your phone through them.

MetroPCS has been doing this for years.

Understood, but MetroPCS isn't available in the majority of the U.S. (and will eventually be merged into T-Mobile) -- Net10, OTOH, is available everywhere due to their parent company's contracts with nearly every major carrier.
