We are considering having family photos done during our visit!
We were going to have artsy pictures taken of our newborn, and our new 'big sister', but that still hasn't happened, so I thought hey why not do it in Disney?!
We saw on the Disney website that you can arrange a photo session at the resort, or in the parks (I think in the parks...). We're staying at the GF. So, we could do it there and probably get some awesome pictures. Or-do we go in the park and do that?
The occasion is babys first Disney trip, and celebrating our new big sister. (this is a big celebration for us, we've dealt with some serious health problems-so we are SO excited!!)
I want really good quality pictures, also. Its worth paying for that, to me. We did newborn shots like that with our first and they are priceless.
So what do you think??
Help me plan it!

Opinions on this vary on personal experience and expectations. We have done it twice and for us, yes, it was worth it. I am going to book another one for our next trip as it was money well spent, for us.

There is a whole thread on it, where people have also posted pictures.

Here is the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2695075

It is better when making a decision to have lots of different opinions so I am not going to say too much and let you make your own mind up and then ask your specific questions but I can tell you that for us it was money well spent :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for bringing that thread to my attention. I've been pouring over it since last night.
After reading it, I contacted an independant photog. But after seeing some of the photo sessions from disney photogs, now I don't know what to do, bc they're actually really nice pics. So basically, not sure if it helped or confused me more! lol
The one plus I can think of is that the disney photogs can go in the park-that would be so special with the kids. Still not sure
So, let me put that question to you-Park photos? Or Grand Floridian photos?

For me personally: I would do park photos!!! Loved the ones in Epcot that I've seen!. We will not be doing it this year for two reasons: I don't want to "cut into" our fun time by making them (DH & DS's) do something they really don't want to do:sad2: and I'm pretty sure being in the parks my boys would lose interest FAST. Oh and DH & DS9 have such problems with the sun in their eyes I have a feeling we would have a lot of closed eye shots.
In a perfect world I would do a park and for me that park would be Epcot.
Good luck with your decision, I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you chose the pictures are beautiful!

Now this is where the DIS comes into play - it can help or create further dilemmas :rotfl::rotfl: I have always gone with the resorts and not the parks. There are a number of reasons for this:

  1. We always pre purchase photopass so we get plenty of park pictures amyway
  2. Aside from the occasional icon in the background, your park photos are not all going to reflect the fact that you are actually in a park
  3. The park photo sessions are one hour sessions and for us, 20 minutes is more than enough. I think doing an hour session with children is a bit long - or at least I suspect the last 15 to 20 minutes for us would see those photos being posed with slightly less interest and enthusiasm.

Please note that this is my personal view based on what I know will work for us and is not necessarily going to be the same for your family. What I want out of a photo session may be very different from what you do. Hope that helps :goodvibes

Pre purchase photopass. Wow! I love this board. I learn something new everyday.

Do you get just the cd for $99 or the photo album package for $149?

We just get the CD because I like to make my own photobooks but I like a LOT of fexability and I don't get that from the Disney one. With that said, however, the photobook package is a great deal if you don't derive pleasure out of spending a month or two on a photobook. I have seen some comleted ones and they really are lovely.
