I read somewhere on this forum that some families of 5 would declare only 2 childs at reservation and have the third one sleep on a mattress in a value resort to save money. Has anyone ever done that? Also, if you have the link to the treads to my question could you please send it to me?

Thanks for ur help

:earseek: I'm pretty sure the answers that follow will indicate that most people on these boards feel the rules should be followed...also, I believe there's a Fire Code that forbids more than 4 people in a Value Room.

If one of your children is under 3 years old, then you can sleep 5 in a room.

However if all people in your party are over 3, the max in all of the value rooms is 4.

You can either move to like the POR where you can sleep 5 in a room, or get 2 rooms.

I am not going to tell you that you can or can't "sneak" another person in your room. Frankly that is up to you.

However Disney's policy is ver clear that only 4 people are allowed in a Value resort room.

If you do "sneak" someone in, then that person will not have a resort id. So that person cann't take part of the EMHs available to resort guests.

Plus Value Resort rooms are SMALL. I would think that 5 in a room would be VERY crowded (even if one of you is under 3).

I have been a travel agent for the last 10 yrs. During the last 5 I have been a home based agent and specialize in cruises, honeymoons, family vacations and Disney (of course!!). Two years ago I had a client call me wanting me to price a package to Disney for her. I know she has 4 children ranging in age from 15-5. She said they were going w/her sister, BIL and their 2 children 10 and 8 (I think) and her brother, his wife and their 2 children. She wanted me to price The All Stars for her. I told her that they wouldn't be able to stay at the All Stars b/c they have a max in room of 4 so she would have to go to another resort. I suggested over to POR and let one of her kids stay in room w/Sister and family. She said no, they were going to stay at All Stars, price it for 2 adts and 2 kids and then they would take sleeping bags for the younger 2 to sleep in the floor. I asked her what would she do about the 2 youngest tickets...she said they were going to buy them seperate at The Disney Store. I was SHOCKED that anyone would think to do this much less actually do it! I told her over and over this was wrong, if they got caught they'd be kicked out, etc etc etc. She insisted on doing it anyway. I was very close not to selling her the package but hated to turn down the commission for 14 people plus knew she'd book it that way anyway. :guilty: So when I gave her the documents, I made her sign a waiver that stated she had been advised that only 4 people were allowed at ASM and they would not hold me responsible if they were kicked off the property or charged an additional fee. She signed it but never had a problem when they went. They had rooms next to each other and kids just ran back and forth from room to room.

I'm sure it costs alot for a family of 6 to take a vacation to Disney but that shouldn't make a difference. Wrong is wrong. What really bothered me most about this, her husband sings in our church choir and she is one of the pre-school Sunday School teachers. I just don't understand how she can do that and then expect her children to follow her rules on everything else. :confused3

Without getting into the ethics of doing this, I can't imagine cramming that many people into one room at a value resort! Those rooms are small!

But Karen, you did exactly the same thing as her for financial reasons. She booked them all into the value resort to save them money and you booked this vacation for her knowing it was wrong all along because you didn't want to turn down the money! You may have made them sign the waiver, but I'm sure Disney wouldn't be thrilled about doing business with you down the road knowing that you disregard the "rules as you call them" that they have in place.
I know that Disney is expensive, it is for a family of every size. Let's face it, budgets stink and not being able to do what one wants on a daily basis because of financial restraints or take the vacation that one wants really doesn't justify lying like this on your reservation. There are always choices that can be made, whether it's taking one day off the vacation or a number of other things.
