A few people have gotten together to give a 5 night vacation to a family. Originally I thought we could get two rooms but some people did not pull through as they should and now we can only get one:sad1: .

Anyway there are two adults, two teen girls (both very small, they wear size zero-1) and a 2 year old (so its legal, Disney knows about it and everything:) ). I feel really gulity about doing one room but thats all we can do. WE have paid for air fare round trip and have the dinng plan. I am not having them stay off site because of the dining plan and without it I dont think we can give them an adequate amount for food and I dont want them to have them cut costs like us diser's would. WE are also going to give them a little money to spend.

What do you all think? Should I feel this bad or will it be ok? I know its free but they deserve it and I dont want them to have a bad week.

I think it's a wonderful thing to do for them and I'm sure they will all have a great time !
Do they have a preferred or standard view room. I only ask because some of those standard rooms are very far from the food court area/bus stop. I think with a 2 yo, that might be a little tough.
Wishing them all a wonderful time in WDW :yay:

I don't think you should feel guilty at all. It's such a wonderful thing that you are doing. Of course, you would love to give them the best vacation possible, but they will feel fine in the one room, especially since they are getting it for free.

Focus on the good your doing. I wish I could do that much good for someone too.

It's gonna be tight in that room, but the fact that you all have gone in together to pay for a trip for a family is a really great thing.

As far as the preferred room thing, IMHO, I would not pay the extra for that, because if there are discounted rates during this time, then you are getting closer to a rate for a moderate resort, which would give them more space in their room.

If it's all good with WDW, I wouldn't feel bad about it. Honestly unless you are there for a really long trip or have been numerous times before, then how much time will be spent in the room. I imagine perhaps one parent will take the two year old back during the day for naps but probably the other parent and older kids will be off in the parks/swimming. So they will only all be there when getting ready and sleeping. It will be fine, and what a nice thing for you to do!:thumbsup2

that is so sweet!!!

they will have a wonderful time.

make sure they understand that they need to made ADR NOW!!! give them the toll free number.

now some counter services did at one time - take a table service and give the user 2 cs meals. don't know if they still do it or not.

That is wonderful what you all are doing. :goodvibes
Maybe the Disney fairies will grant them a upgrade. :wizard:

Sounds like you are a wonderful group of people who set this up!

I think if they know going in that the rooms are small and stress that they are really just for sleeping, they'll be fine. It's the teenagers and the bathroom that would be the toughest, so explain that there is no decent counter space (if they're going to be at a value), so I'd go to the dollar store and get some of those shoe holders so the girls can keep all their stuff in one spot and off the sink. I think the only way to be prepared for 5 in a room is to know everything ahead of time and plan/pack with that in mind. Maybe give them a couple rolls of quarters and some travel size Tide/Downy so they can do laundry one day and not have to pack as much.

Will the 2 year old sleep in a portable crib? There is room to fit it (my only experience is at ASMo) along the wall where the TV/dresser/table is, if you move the table and one chair in front of the window and put the other chair somewhere else. It might also work along the wall on the other side of the TV closer to the closet, but that's much better for luggage because of the coat hook thingy.

Maybe you should mention it to disney... they might not do anything, but you never know... lot sof upgrades are given out... this may just be a little help!

and I would not focus on the room being small... my guess is they are going to have sucha wonderful time that they won't really care if it was a bit tight, which I don't think it will be to bad... it is like a cruise, you aren't in your room to much... and a 2yr old doesn't take up to much space! they are going to be there to enjoy disney not the room!

bless you and your group for doing this-- the memories you are helping them make are priceless!

Can 5 People Stay In One Room At Pop? Please Let Me Know. We Are Going In Sept And I Just Got An Email About Great Room Only Rates. I Thought We Might Add An Extra Day To Our Trip. I Would Love To Saty That Day At Pop Or One Of The Other Vaules.

Five people can stay in a Value resort room IF - as is the case with the original poster - one person is UNDER three and sleeps in a Pack & Play. Not three, not barely three, not a small four-year-old, but an infant or toddler who has not yet reached his/her third birthday.

As long as one of the five people is a child under the age of 3, you are all set.

OP, I have to agree with others on this post and say that you shouldn't feel bad. If this family could not have otherwise afforded a trip to WDW, I really don't think they're going to complain about the room they have. Essentially, I think they are going to be having too much fun out in the parks, etc. and will be so tired when the come home at night that they are just going to fall into bed and wake up the next morning and do it again. What you have done is a wonderful thing and I'm sure the family will be forever appreciative to you for it.

And they definately mean 3. I was told that if the child turns 3 on the trip, then we'd have to change to 2 rooms, or a different resort after the birthday:sad2: . To me thats kind of crazy, but oh well. Go and have a fabulous time!!!!

Okay, now that doesn't sound right, annie1995 :(
Relatively common wisdom (not to mention multiple actual experiences) indicates that a child remains the check-in age through the entire trip. It may get a little stickier if you change hotels after the child's birthday, but even then it's the same trip.
Seriously - a two year old who turns three during the vacation still doesn't need a ticket, or the Dining Plan if the rest of the party has it. A child who turns ten during a trip doesn't need to upgrade to an Adult ticket, nor does she/he have to move up to the Adult Dining Plan if applicable.
I think the person who gave you that information is wrong. Hard to believe, I know - but we often know more than the Reservations Cast Members.

Thats what I thought too, and mentioned the ticket info too, but thats what the CM told me:sad2: . I even re-phrased the age question with the thought they didn't understand me, but I was given the same answer. I didn't call back because this won't pose a problem till 2009, and thats along way down the road. Ya think they would all be on the same page with each other. Glad to know its not true then:goodvibes

I certainly wouldn't tell you to not do it, but it is going to be very, very tight in space and on the nerves. One sink, one shower and one potty. I would also be concerned about the child's sleeping habits. There is minimal way for it to sleep undisturbed while adults are awake, lights on, etc. We went one year with 3 teens and got connecting rooms, I was SO glad when had done so when it was all said and done. But you do what you need to do and have a nice trip!

I think they'll have an amazing time - what a wonderful thing you're doing for them :goodvibes ! I definitely wouldn't pay for a preferred room there. We stayed in a regular old room last year and were thrilled with our distance to everything. We were in a corner room in the 70's section. I also don't think it will be a problem with the little one sleeping more. The teens should be old enough to hang out by the pool while the little one goes to sleep. Once she's asleep, they could turn on the small light and read or play games, or even sleep - it is Disney after all and even teenagers get tired there :) Plus, they could stay in the parks longer with one parent while they other one heads back for some quiet with the 2 year old.

Bottom line, it's Disney and there are a million ways to make this work. I know that I could easily do it for my family, and I'm certain they'll be thrilled to do it for theirs :)

Hope their trip is truly magical :wizard:

That is very sweet giving this family a paid vacation! Yes the room will be a little small for a family of 5 but hey there going to Disney.

We were told that if they are 2 when you get there, and then turn 3 on the trip there is no need to do anything. They are considered 2 the whole time:)
