Does anyone have any tips for the family magic tour, am going for the first time 64days and counting! and want to know if this is going to be ok for the family the youngest being 3 and the oldest probably won't be impressed with me putting her age! :earsboy:

We did this 3 years ago with some friends. Everyone had a great time, even the youngest who was still in a stroller.

If you don't mind doing foolish things in front of total strangers, you'll be fine. :teeth:

The foolish things are what make the fun.......but what are some of these foolish things so as I can warn motherinlaw!!

I don't want to give anything away, but at one point you are asked to "bunny hop" a certain number of steps. :cool1:

Can't wait to go reading all the tips on the forum is great especially about captain hook my son is 3 and is a big hook fan he has already said he is going to tell him to stop being bossy to Peter Pan! pirate: and my 4yr old daughter (thanks to my sis in law) is going to have a mind blowing time at the CRT breakfast booked for my niece's B'day just wanted to find out a bit more about the family magic tour as it sounded a fun way of saying thanks for all the arranging for the holiday!! :wizard:

When you see Hook, stand somewhere where he can't see you and say "Tick-toc, Tick-toc".

That never fails us!

What is the oldest age child you think would like this tour? Can''t decide if I want to try it or not.

Thanks,
Lisa

Im interested in that too. My oldest will be 12 and I dont know if that is too old or if she would still enjoy it.

Any input is helpful.

Have just been told that this may not be too good for under 5's as its like a scavenger hunt you have to solve clues anyone got any more info about this as my DS is mad about Captain Hook and we originally thought this would be one of the best ways to meet him with not too many other people around pirate:

Bump. I'm also curious as to what age you think is too young. My ds will be 3 (barely), and dd a few days shy of 5.

Can't wait sooooo excited decided to phone and book the tour anyway :goodvibes everything I read about and piccies that were posted looked too much fun to miss and thought well as this is our first time to WDW what the heck.
My niece's are also doing this, and on the same day as her birthday, doesn't matter if its not Captain Hook & Peter Pan at the end (DS is a big big huge fan!) we will have plenty of other chances to find them. (I was warned when I booked that it is not guaranteed that it will be Peter Pan it could be another character)
When I placed the booking they assured me that even though my DS 3yr & DD 4yr may not be able to read the clues they can still join in with all the fun to find the clues. Their faces will more than prove the worth when they set foot into the gates there. :hyper:
Thanks disboards for the info especially Janet for her diary of the tour and the pics they were amazing! :worship: :disrocks:

We're going to be doing this tour in about three weeks for my DD's 5th B'day  . She is a Peter Pan nut :hyper: so we're REALLY hoping that HE will be the character we get to see at the end.

I'll let you guys know how it went :flower: .

My dd is 13 and we are going to try it. I figure we are all a bunch of goofs anyway, so it doesn't matter if we are old goofs!

Does anyone have any tips for the family magic tour...

Little Monsters, I wrote about the Family Magic Tour in great detail in last year's trip report: click here (look for the post on that page entitled, "Day 2: Grand Floridian (Part 2)"). I have links in that post to my photos of the event. My family had a wonderful time on the tour. My only tip would be to keep your heart open and the magic will find a way to enter it. In my humble opinion, the tour is fun for young & old alike.

we did the tour last may, with me and dh, our dds ages 2 and 5, and the grandparents (age 80-something ;) Both daughters enjoyed the scavenger hunt greatly, even though neither could read-the tour guide read the clues, and the kids raced off, with the little one desperately trying to keep up. Actually, the kids were much better at keeping up than the grandparents, who were quite far behind (if mobility is an issue, you might just have them meet you at the end). We were rewarded with 45 minutes of undivided Peter Pan time, and the little one still remembers and talks about sitting on Peter Pan's lap for Philharmagic. the pictures of the girls holding Peter's hand are the best of our trip. I would say 5-8 or 9 are prime ages; those close to the teen years may be self-conscious about the antics of the hunt (hopping, skipping, jumping, etc). good luck.

I didn't realize the Family Tour was like that--for some reason, I thought it would be boring, duh, it's Disney.

Janet2K-thanks for the wonderful review, guess what? I'm a Bond fan, too. I said if God didn't call me to a mom and a wife, first, I would have chosen to be a Bond gal... :)

I had to stop reading the wonderful detailed description of the tour so that it wasn't ruined for us!! We are doing the FAmily Magic Tour right after our Cinderella Table breakfast on April 28th! I think our 2 1/2 yr old dd and almost 6 yr old dd will have a blast with it!

Since you can't do a behind the scenes w/under 16 yr olds, this will be perfect.

Man, how much film should I take for our 10 day trip? 2 rolls a day minimum?? Do the digital with extra batteries and memory cards? Hmm...

Nora, going to Disney April 22 - May 1 for first time since the 80's (when I hated it!)

Thanks Janet I read your diary and that was what helped to make my mind up about booking the tour it sounded amazing and the pictures..... well....! my DS saw the chase at Cinderella's castle and that clinched it! Cant wait not long to go now 59 days and counting! Thanks again!

LoveBond -- what a great Dis name (I'm very jealous!).

Everyone else, since I posted that link to my write-up about the Family Magic Tour, I had to re-read what I had written (it's been many, many months and my memory just ain't what it used to be). Luckily, I did remember it being a very fun tour, but I had honestly forgotten how much fun it was. My son wasn't with us last year for the tour due to college finals. I'm not sure if he'll be with us this Fall when we return to WDW, but if he is, I am definitely considering booking that tour again. It really was a lot of fun, and as hokey as it sounds, I know my son would have a ball on it with his kid sister. It would be one of those priceless moments that are passing all too quickly now that he's just a few short years away from flying this old hen's chicken coop, ~sigh.~
