Family Magic Tour

Who's done the Family Magic Tour? Worth the money? My DDs will be 23 months & 4 at the time. Do you think they will have fun? Or is a 2 hour hunt just too long for those ages? Will it just be my family or a huge group?

WE haven't done it yet, but we are going to do this as a surprise extra on our next trip. My kids will be 9,8, and 4. We have held off until now because I had read that it was pretty impossible to do the tour with a stroller. With the ages of your kids, you may want to be sure to ask for others feedback on that, or even a castmember.

Our family did this a few years ago with 4 kids from age 3 or 4 up to a teenager. It was fun but something that you would only do once because it was set up like a treasure hunt and once you know the answer to the clues it wouldn't be fun a second time.

23 months might be a little young. I would consider a few things before I made up my mind. I hope lots of people give you their feedback. Would you have to pay for the baby? it was a fairly pricey little activity for our group of 6 AND I would suggest definitely use a stroller- maybe one that they can climb in and out of easily in case they want to do some of the silly follow the leader things like the rest of the group- or you will wind up carrying him/her for hours.

We were not alone. We had another smaller family participate with us who's children were young "gradeschoolers". If I remember correctly, there is a limit (12-15 persons?) to the number of guests that take the tour at once (one CM/group).

The day we took the tour was very hot and humid even early in the morning and that made it a little less enjoyable than if it had been a wee bit cooler. We had a few quick breaks and opportunities to get a drink of water.

Overall it was a fun experience, providing you are willing to abandon any self-consciousness you might normally have and fully participate in all the silliness. At the end there is a fun "surprise" character meeting for the kids to enjoy in a private unrushed setting, photo-op, bring your camera.

As the group broke up our CM commented that our teenage son was a good sport throughout and that she always worried when she saw a guest that age in the group because, well, you all know how teenagers can sometimes be, and this is definitely an activity where you call attention to yourself!

We are booked for this next month. I have a 3 and 6 year old. I doubt my 3 year old will want to get in her stroller, but I was told when I made the ressie it was totally stroller accessible. If you search you can find NUMEROUS threads on this tour and from what I've read and asked a stroller will be fine. They are used to it with this tour since it caters to families with younger children. I have read only great things about it and I'm looking forward to trying something new. My girls are getting WDW burn out if you can imagine! I have planned many new things for this next trip!

EDIT- I don't think you have to pay for under age three.

Hi trola, your kids will be the perfect age!
we used a stoller for our littlest one and had no problems, we had a very sweet CM who didn't rush anyone. Plus,we didn't have to wear our family backpack, just stowed it underneath.
Gee, I really miss that stroller- now we have to carry everything!

Thanks for the replies on this thread. This will be our last WDW trip (Nov...hopefully!) for probably 4-5 years. We thought it would be a great way to end the era of the non-teen years at WDW. And we'll think on the stroller. I know in Feb, a stroller was still a must. My youngest is a very strong walker and doesn't tire easily, but it sure saved the rest of of with not carrying everything and that she could ride "like a princess" certainly kept her in a better mindset for the week. I'm sure she'll want to participate in everything they ask us to do, though!!

We're going on it in two weeks and from what I've read (which is a lot) it has been the highlight of the trip! It will be myself and my husband, DS7, DD4 and DD20months. I don't anticipate a stroller problem. And you don't have to pay for under three. Plus, if you use a Disney Visa, you get a 15% discount.
