I just booked our family to go on the Family Magic Tour. There will be 4 of us. Husband, myself, 4 year old DS and 2 year old DD. DD is free for being 2. It's a 2 hour scavenger hunter around MK. Has anyone done this tour before and will it be good for 4 and 2 year olds?

We did it a few weeks ago. My 6yo DD loved it. My 9yoDS thought it was OK. I think younger kids would really enjoy it. There is lots of skipping, hopping, and generally acting stupid during the tour, so my kids thought it was kinda funny that even Mom did silly things.

Did it last Oct for DS's 6th birthday (DD was almost 4). We loved it but be prepared to act silly. You'll have a lot more fun (and the kids will too) if you're willing to do what the tour guide says. We had some parents in our group who were just "too cool" to act silly and I don't think their son had as much fun as the other kids because of it. I'd take a stroller for your DD - our 4 yo definitely wanted hers after a while. Have fun and have your cameras ready at the end of the tour!!

We did this one a few years ago & had a wonderful time!! My hubby & I prob. had a better time than some of our kids! I agree you have to be ready to be real silly & just enjoy yourself. We did lots of hopping, skipping, & "tick-tocking" thru adventureland. Made everybody look at us!

We had kids ages 2,4,6, 9, 12, & 14 then...the oldest one didn't enjoy it as much as the middle ones. The 4, 6, & 9 yr olds had a BLAST! But they do all ask if we could do it again sometime!

My DS loved the Family Magic Tour when we were there 3 years ago. He is almost 9 now and insisted we do it again. We have signed up for the tour on 8/14. Go with an open mind and have fun. My 70 year old mother was with us last time and she even did just about everything the tour guide requested.

We enjoyed the tour so much we did it twice in one trip! It is by far one of the better "values" at WDW. The quest is fun and the ending is wonderful. You feel as if you own the park when all the other guest look at your group doing special things around the park. Yes, being silly does help! I don't want to give away any secrets, but the children will not be disappointed at the ending of this tour!

My DD LOVED Peter Pan. I heard that they do two different tours each day. Does anyone know which one is the Peter Pan tour?

Thanks everyone. Can't wait to do the tour. I'm not sure if my DH will come or not. He's not the silly type, so if not me and the DS are going on it. I'ii report back when we get back on August the 4th. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with JRoglitz in asking this question. When is the game/tour focused on a Peter Pan theme and when it is othewise? My daughter was Tinkerbell in her preschool's recent rendition of PETER PAN and she'd be so excited if the theme was about that? Is there any way of telling in advance? JROglitz, my understanding is that there is just one of these special tours a day, but I wish we'd know when it's a Peter Pan one. Does anyone know?

I think there are a couple of different times. Both of the tours we took in May had Peter Pan. The CM said that the characters may vary and that every once in a while there may actually be two characters! You can call the WDW tours offfice for the times of the tour. Even if you don't like to be silly, it sure is wonderful to see the joy in the childrens faces at the end of the tour.

I love being silly, especially with my daughter. The tour sounds like much fun. I hope we'll succeed in booking it and I hope Peter Pan or Wendy or something will be the theme.

We've done this tour twice and it's a blast!! Both times, we had the Peter Pan theme, and both times we had a later tour, so perhaps it's the early tour that has the other theme? Friends of ours did get the Maleficent version when they did it, but they said it was every bit as fun.

Just because you have the Peter Pan theme, though, doesn't mean that you will be guaranteed to see Peter Pan at the end, it could be any number of characters. Our first tour we did get Peter Pan, if I remember correctly, but last year we got Aladdin and Belle. At any rate it's absolutely wonderful to have that private time with the characters at the end, and it's always such a surprise to the kids.

Have fun! :)

I've been trying to sign up for this tour in advance as is indicated with other tours, but the reservations desk says it's too early.

Meanwhile, I am interested to learn that there are two times. I was told that there would be only one time in April, 2004.

When were you there, Beth C, that there were two of these such tours offered?

Hi. When I booked the tour the agent never said there were 2 times a day offered. Just 9:30 to 11:30 or maybe it was 10:00 to noon. Anyway, the tour is for 2 hours through MK. For ages 3 and up. We are taking our 4 year old and 2 year old DD. She is free. I think it's offered every day. Book by calling 404-WDW-TOUR. Price was $25.00 per person. We did get a discount with AAA because we also booked the Fairytale Package with them and they give you a diamond card that gets you 15% discount on Disney Tours. Hope that helps.

There are only 2 tours young kids can go on this one and one in the Land part of EPCOT. I don't think that one would hold a young childs interest.

robmary,

Your trip is fast approaching. Have fun.

I'm going in April 2004. There's no FTP for then, at least so far. It cheaper for me to separate out all of the pieces of the trip rather than do a package deal. I have a room only reservation. I am considering a 6 or 7 day park hopper plus. I was considering the silver plan, but with small kids, such a luxurious trip with lots of pampering and sit-down dinners would only be counterproductive. When I costed it out, we were a little under the break even amount. Since it's our first time, I'd prefer we see the parks more than have the resort and recreation. We simply don't know what our preferences will be until we're there yet.

This tour, however, was one thing that I am quite certain will be a huge hit with my family.

Erich and I were just watching our home movies of this a few weeks ago.We did this tour about 4 years ago,I think Erich was 5 and we all had so much fun! It was when they were just starting the tours and as a Disney Club member I got free tickets. We were looking for Captain Hook's hook.

I'll see what I can find out about the 2 different types of tours they seem to have now.

Whatever it is I'm sure y'all will have a blast!!!
