Hello Everyone! Has anyone done the Family Magic Tour? What did you think? Is it worth the time and money? I am going in a few weeks with my two sons (13 and 9) and I have been tossing this tour around.

Thanks!

We did this tour several years ago when my sons were younger. They loved it then but at most DS1 was 8... At 13 & 9 I'm not sure my DS's would have enjoyed it. Mine are now 15 and 11 and I think they'd think it baby-ish.

Two of my daughters and my granddaughter are doing this on this upcoming trip in December. I hope it's a fun time for them!

Uh oh...really? My granddaughter is 9...I hope it's not too babyish for her  Do you remember much about it that you could fill me in a bit? Thanks!!

The CM has a map and you follow it to save MK. You do goofy things such as crawling through Cosmic Rays (across the front where the animitronics are) so they don't see you. At the end you get a special ride (or at least we did). It was fun, don't get me wrong.

You have to be willing to act silly and kind of role play in the middle of the park surrounded by strangers. If your kids can do this then they'll likely enjoy it. Most pre-teens and teens do NOT want to act silly in public and are highly embarassed by their parents doing so. Of course for me, that's part of the fun. LOL

We did it in august. Our kids were 10 and7 but they are special needs so the act a lot younger. We were with another large group with several kids of similar ages and they did loose interest by the end. You have to be willing to act silly as well crawling through cosmic rays, we had to Sing in the park, skip fly hop jump shout, our ride was tomorrowland transit. We met peter pan and wendy at the end. The guide Kristen was fantastic. We enjoyed it and didn't care about all the silly stuff, after all Mk makes a child of all of us. But it's not for the shy as you get a lot of odd looks:rolleyes1

We did the Family Magic Tour when DS was 9. He was the eldest child in the group and he definitely felt the tour was for younger kids. The parents of the younger kids didn't participate at all - they just observed the kids. So much of it depends on who else is on the tour with you. I will say DS never mentioned it again. It was not one of the highlights of his trip, or something that he specifically remembers as a terrific experience. He is almost 15 now, and of all the things we have done at WDW I think this would rank near the bottom of his list.

I think the younger ones on the tour thought it was TERRIFIC.

We did this tour a few years ago and I really think it depends on the Tour Guide. Ours wasn't very good and we were all pretty bored with it about halfway through. I think if you have an energetic, witty Guide, it could be really fun. I do think younger children find it more appealing. Ten would be the top age to enjoy this in my mind and then it would depend on the child.

My kids were....16, 14, 8 and 6 when we did it. My older girls absolutely loved it but you really have to know your children. They didn't feel embarrassed - they felt special. We had Peter Pan and Wendy all to ourselves for a while and it is one of our favorite memories. The other families on the tour were sort of lame (ok - that is unfair...obviously, this tour is not for everyone!) and did not get in to it so my kids got more attention. And we all enjoyed watching our son (the youngest) because he really believed! ymmv.

My daughter was 6 or 7 when she did it. It was OK. She seemed to prefer the pirate adventure sail (or whtever it is called). They spent two hours on the lagoon searching for treasure. Pretty cheap and parents not allowed.

Glad to hear that it is fun..... We are considering this tour for our next trip.

I have a dd (4) and a ds (13) and am thinking about ds and dh doing the Steam train tour and dd and I doing the FM tour!
