Hi...

My family is going to WDW in December. The kids are: 11, 8 & 7...

Do you think they are too old for the family magic tour?

I have to make a decision about either doing that tour or the Wildlife Discovery Excursion.

I would appreciate any input.

THANKS!!! :teeth: :teeth:

I think your kids are a perfect age for this tour. We went on this tour 8/7 and my DD's are 10 & 7. They absolutely had a blast. The kids interact the entire time with the guide (they really need to be able to read). The tour guide has a treasure map and she asks the kids to read the clues. You get to do all sorts of silly things and they even make the parents do some things by themselves and the kids got a real kick out of this. I really think your kids need to be older than say 4 because it is so hard to explain to a child why they can't stop and do this ride or that one. At the end you get to go to an attraction with the characters who meet you at the end of the tour (we went to Philarmagic). I highly recommend this tour.

I agree with Silly Girl! My kids were 7,10 and 13 and all three of them had a blast!! They would love to do it again! DH and I enjoyed it too!
It was a memory of a lifetime!!

My kids were 11 & 8 when we did this tour. They were the "older" kids on the tour so they were able to read the map and help lead the tour. We had a great time. When the tour was over my YDS walked hand-in-hand with one of the characters (won't spoil the suprose for anyone) and got to ride in the front seat on IASW.

You guys are killing me!! Just when I had it in my mind to do the Wildlife Tour instead...I hear all these positive things!!! I may have to do both!!! :teeth:

Anyone else with some reviews????

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

I'm 43 years old and had a blast.

Oh..and so did my 10 year old and 8 year old.

I'm doing the Family Magic Tour in a few weeks with my DD12 and DS11. Glad to hear it's fun and they aren't too old!!

We also did the Family Magic Tour last fall when my kids were 6 & 7. We all had a great time. We will be participating again in the Family Magic Tour in a couple of weeks at my kid's request.

We did the Family Magic Tour last year, DS was 11 and DD 8 - they both loved it and have requested to do it again at 12 and 9 :)

Here's another quick question...about how long was it? and how much of the park did you walk?

The tour is about two hours. We covered Tomorrowland, Adventureland, and Frontierland. We then ended up finishing in Fantasyland. We were each given bottled water when we checked in, and an hour into the tour, we had about a 10 minute break for the restroom.

It is the most fun if you go knowing you'll be doing things where other people are looking at you like you may have lost your mind. It's great when everyone on the tour gets involved. We had 20 in our group and the average child's age was probably 7 or 8 yrs. I wondered if some of the parents would get involved and they did. Wholeheartedly.

It was a really nice way to spend time as a family doing something a little out of the ordinary at Disney.

I think your kids are the perfect age! We just did this tour a couple of weeks ago and my kids are 5 and 4. They were just a bit too young. My 5 year old son loved it, but my 4 year old daughter had a hard time with the walking. The older kids on the tour could read faster than my son and process the clues quicker. Our main reason for the tour was the character interaction and that was great! The tour is silly and fun and a different way to see the park. Highly recommended!
BTW, if you tell them when you make your reservation, you can save 15% using your AAA card.

A couple of questions...

1) Is this tour offered every day?
2) How far in advance does it sell out?

TIA

Here's a little more info: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tours.htm#FamilyTour

But yes - it is offered Daily at 10:00 am - and definitely use your Disney Visa or AP discount - It's 15-20% off!

I don't know how quickly you need to book - it will depend on your party size. We booked at the beginning of August about a month in advance and there was only one day that would work - but we had a party of 8!

We did it with DS2, DD4, DS11 and Grandma & Grandpa! And everyone loved it - it was definitely the high-light of the trip! For the OP - I think the ideal age to do is 7-11! So, you guys should definitely have a great time!

Here's a couple pics from August 5th!

IndyJammer, cute pictures. Looks like fun, thanks for posting.

So this is offered everyday now? I thought family magic tour was only offered on Sundays.

No, it is offered daily at 10 am. I thought it was a 90 day booking window, but I can't remember. The number is 407 wdw-tour.
