We will be at the WL for 10 days in October. We have family in FL that will be joining us for one day and we will be going to MK together. We would like them to join us at WL for breakfast and then make our way over to MK via boat afterwards and then spend the day at the park with them returning to the WL with us at the end of the day for drinks/late night snack before the head home. My question is - will they be allowed to park their car at WL for the day? How do they go about gaining access to the resort considering they do not have a reservation? Do they need to mention our names to get in? Sorry if this sounds dumb but when I stayed last year at POP I remember needing to show my parking pass or was it my room key at the gate. Years ago the same family members joined us at ASMu and they just parked their car and came directly to our room. I'm guessing security over the years has changed.

They might have a difficult time getting in. Usually, if you are not staying at the resort, the only way they will let you in is if you have a dining reservation, and even with that, they only give you a three hour parking pass. That being said, it would be terribly inconvenient for them to have to park at the TTC and then monorail to the Contemporary and then boat over to the WL. (Especially at the end of the day.) You may want to ask the front desk what would be the best way to handle the situation.

We've had family join us for lunch when we stayed at WL, then some of them came to MK with us, and rode the boat with us. It was no problem for them parking in the WL lot for the day. They just had to tell the security guard at the gate why they were coming and he let them through.

...want to have a conversation with the manager, or someone at the front desk, to alert them to this. Maybe they can have your friends' name put on a list for security, which can then wave them through.

No problem getting into WL (or any resort..Disney wants you to look around, and check out their resorts). They can either say they want to look around, and they'll be asked for the drivers license for ID, or in your case, since they have family there, they can give your name (and they'll also hae to show their ID). When you check in, you can get an extra parking paper for them to put on their car (just ask for two), but even that is not neccessary at WL. The only places we ever get 3 hour passes are at the Poly and CR (because people park there and go to MK to avoid parking fees)..never at WL. Sometimes Beach Club will be crowded and they ask you to park much further away. We often "tour" the resorts, and although we have a parking pass from our resort, the people who meet us there, don't.
