My in-laws are selling their house and moving to a townhome. Every year for the past 10+ years we have had a family get together for the 4th of July. The kids LIVE for this day. It ranks second to Christmas for all the grandkids-they plan their 4th activities at our Christmas get together every year-it is quite funny actually.
Grandma wanted to have the celebration at her house since it is the last time they will be able to do that there-they moved into this house a week before our oldest was born-oldest grandchild so all the kids only know this house. DH's oldest brother is all in a tizzy because they won't be able to come this year and thought we should postpone this because they couldn't make it. Well, they couldn't make it because they scheduled a VACATION. They are both self employed and have completely flexible schedules so it isn't a "this is the only week we can take" deal. It isn't like this is a big surprise that we all of the sudden are getting together on the 4th

. They always do stuff like this. My MIL, who rarely says ANYTHING to anyone about stuff like this just lit into my BIL (which he fully deserved because his is always pulling crap like this). Good for her!
