I was raised in a family that adored Disney and endeavored to make annual or bi-annual trips to WDW. In 1993, my family became
DVC (OKW) members. It was a natural progression for us.
In July of 1998, my boyfriend came down to WDW with my family and me. He proposed at the top of the California Grill (overlooking Cinderella's castle).
In July of 2000, we honeymooned at the Boardwalk (on my parents points -- as a honeymoon gift), and fell in love with the resort!
We joined my parents on their annual OKW summer vacation a month later. While we were there, we couldn't resist. We bought BWV points!
I'm extremely fortunate to call both OKW and BWV my homes, and I consider myself lucky, indeed, that my husband enjoys WDW as much as I do. I'm definitely what Donald would call a "lucky duck."
But, I, too, can relate to what many of you are saying. My in-laws haven't been bitten by the "Disney bug". They prefer the "exotic" genre of travel -- Vietnam, Antartica, China... I figure I can travel the world through the EPCOT pavilions -- WDW has it all!!
I think most people envision WDW as a "Mickey Mouse" - Magic Kingdom kind of vacation. They haven't been there in so long, they have no idea of all that WDW has to offer!
I suppose it's just as well...if EVERYONE loved Disney, imagine how crowded the pools would be THEN!
