Does anyone know if the Family plan for the boat is unlimited use for 10 calander days or is it 1 hour each day? Is there a certain amount of people that have to be with you and can you each get a boat of your own or do you all have to share 1? Thanks in advance.

Could you tell me more about the family boat plan? We love to rent the water sprites and will be there with 6 people this year. TIA

We've done the unlimited plan at both the Polynesian and GF. Both resorts also offered a less expensive plan that was more limited. Don't remember the details of those plans though. Our experiences were all a couple years ago.

Anyway, the unlimited plan was for up to 5 drivers. It was really unlimited but I know if it is a busy time some people reported having to check in after an hour to see if anyone was waiting for a boat. We never were out that long anyway except with the pontoon boats.

I remember reading that it was for 4 people at WL but have no first hand knowledge of that.

However, I don't know if those plans are even being offered anymore? :confused3 I know it wasn't during one of our Polynesian visits and I haven't seen any recent reports of the plans.

I should add that at the GF and Polynesian both, you had to be a guest of that resort to do the plan. I don't think that was true at the other resorts.

We have done this at POR, and plan to again in Oct. The plan is currently about $260 for the length of your stay. We had the same return policy as the Previous poster (on an as needed basis). The plan differs at PO and Epcot resorts from the policy at the mk resorts in that at the mk resorts all drivers must hold a valid liscense. The others only require drivers to be over 12 and 5' tall. We are moving to BC mid stay, but have been assured by Marina personell that they will still honor our boat priveleges, but only at their marina throughout our wdw stay.

My teens LOVE this more than going to the parks.

It is unlimited for up to 5 people for as long as 10 days. Less time or people though do not change the price. They also have a Captain's plan for about $130 that is for 4 total hours of rental during your stay which saves you about $50 dollars over renting by the half hour. Of course if you don't use the four hours then there is no refund.

Anyone have a link to the official WDW page that has the info on it?

K thanks for the info was looking at the CBR thread and saw something about it and was thinking of doing this.

Renting water sprites (Sea Raycers) was always a big thing for us and I considered the unlimited use plan. Now that our DSs are older, they are also heavier. Even my 17 year old was disappointed in the speed of the boats this year because he is "bigger". I am about the same size as I always was, and my boat cruised along just fine. DS 20 and 24, although slim, knew that their weight would slow the boat so they weren't even interested in the Captain's plan. I did notice that the effect that the "licensed driver" rule that the Magic Kingdom resorts have instituted has dramatically reduced boat traffic on the lakes. We were out on the lake mid day and there couldn't have been 7 other boats between Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. I would guess that Disney actually does financially well with the unlimited plan because those who are old enough to drive by themselves would probably not be interested in using the boats on a daily basis due to the slowness of the boats. Two in a boat dramatically slows the speed as well.

Got this from the best TA EVER at The Magic For Less--Deb.

Boat & Bike Rental Plan

Walt Disney World offers two great plans that let you use their boats and
bikes for some great recreation times.

The Captain’s Plan is for 4 hours at the cost of $133.13. During this time
you have unlimited use of the boats and bikes at the various marinas on
property. You don’t have to be staying on property to use this plan. There
is no maximum family size, but everyone in the party will need to be present
when signing up to sign the waiver.

The Family Plan is for the length of your stay, up to 10 days, for up to 5
people. The cost for this is $254.54 and also provides you unlimited boat
and bike rental. All family members all need to be present when signing up
so they can sign the waiver. For this plan you must be a guest of the Walt
Disney World resorts.

When you sign up at a marina, that is the only marina that you can use,
although it doesn’t have to be the resort where you’re staying. The marinas
are located at the Beach Club, Caribbean Beach, Contemporary, Coronado
Springs, Downtown Disney, Fort Wilderness, Grand Floridian, Old Key West,
Polynesian, Port Orleans, Wilderness Lodge and Yacht Club. The boats
include Sea Racers, pontoons, sailboats, kayak’s, canoes and canopy boats.
The specialty cruises are excluded.

Surrey bikes are excluded for the bike rental plan as well.

We always use the Unlimited Plan on our stays. We've done it at both WL and POR and have been able to check out boats multile times a day. And depending on the demand that day we've been able to keep them out longer than the one hour limit. Quite a few times we've been told to just have them back by 5:30 when they close. Definately worth the money if you ahve multiple people in your party or if you plan to be out on the water alot.
