....... so Alex won!

I'm rather relieved it's over! Did you pick Alex as the winner or would you have chosen one of the others?

I thought Caroline had the better voice and out of Alex and Alistair I prefered Alistair.
Try as I might, I just couldn't get myself to like Alex's voice - it sounded un-natural and flat to me!

She is cute though :)

I too am not a lover of these shows but I was more and more sucked into this one.

I miss a few and then seem to catch up.

I must admit I was in favour of Alex for quite a while. I thought although her style was not really my cup of tea. she seemed to put her whole heart into every song. And the one she wrote I thought was very good. and boy can she wail !!!!

They are all talented. I just hope the do not get over exposed and used as a cash machine to line the producers pockets and just spat out within a few months.

We live in hope....

I think Alex was probably the most unique of them all - but not really my cup of tea. I would have preferred Carolynn to win I think.

I've been rooting for Alex since the first of this series I saw (about six weeks ago, I think). I thought she was the most unique of all of them, although they were all so talented in their own ways.

I thought the most refreshing thing about Alex was her style - every other female competitor in any of these type of shows always seems to be striving for a glossy, glitzy image, whether it suits them or not.

Although I've enjoyed watching, I can't say I'm sorry to see the end of the series - I don't like being hooked! ;)

I'm not glad it's over:( what will I watch now!;)

I did like Alex although her singing isn't a style I particularly like.I liked Carolynne and Alistair too but not sure I'd buy recoreds by any of them.

Now Paris,he's a different matter;)

Alex and Carolynne are great singers but Alistair is absolutely Dreadful!! He should have gone weeks ago and Peter he was a good act but on waaaaaaay too long!!
My biggest laugh was on BBC 3 later at the FA Party When Jonathon Woss said David Sneddons coming in half an hour--Delivering Pizzas!!!

I thought Alex sounded like a bad version of Sinead O'Connor, and I can't stand Sinead O'Connor!! She KILLED 'Imagine'...the rumbling I heard was a certain Mr Lennon turning in his grave!! I lost interest when James was voted off...good looking and talented, I'd put him on my wall (among other places) any day!!

RP
;)

I started off liking Alex and James but found after the initial performances everything they did sounded the same !

James I could quite happily watch with the sound off :p - and he lives only a few miles away from me !! I can think of a few places I could put James too :o

Alex now just makes me want to slit my wrists - I like my music a bit more uplifting. I don't do constant ansgt

Alistair grew on me gradualy but I thought he underperformed on finals night.

Carolynne deserved to win purely based on final night performance imho

I didn't vote but the blatent bias towards Alex through teh whole series and that prat Daniel Beddingfield's behaviour nearly made me pick up the phone and register a protest vote for Alistair. I thought Alistair conducted himself with dignity when I would have punched him in the face  Even Alex looked embarassed at his behaviour. Rant over lol !!:hyper:

Oh I forgot about that what a complete.......,OK I can't do stars to replace a word but you get my drift.I couldn't stand him before that now I loath him.

He is now on my hit list of celebs I hate;)

I am a mega Daniel Beddingfield fan but he went waaaay down in my estimation after watching him on Saturday. Shame on you Daniel.

Astrid x

I have always really enjoyed Daniel Bedingfield's music, but he really let himself down on Saturday. What a smug B******.

Good on Patrick Whatsisname though for sticking up for Alistair.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Fame Academy for me has been the argy bargy between Patrick and his Lordship the Headteacher.

You've reminded me,I hate Patrick Keilty too:hyper:

Why is it that Riched Park and Simon Cowell get so much stick when people at home know they are usually very accurate just not all sugar and saccharine like the rest of showbiz.

As much as people 'hated' Simon in US pop Idol when they did a poll asking which judges opinion do you most respect/agree with, the US public overwealmingly voted for Simon Cowell.

You've reminded me,I hate Patrick Keilty too

LOL Karen :teeth: !!!!!

I still think the Richard Park/Patrick Keilty friction was stage-managed!

I agree with you re Simon Cowell - we saw some of the USA Pop Idol prog when we were in Canada and I thought Simon was actually too nice in certain cases :teeth:

I always thought it was amusing when Nigel Lithgoe was nicknamed Nasty Nigel by the tabloids - he is in fact an extremely nice person but he just told it like it is.

I havent actaually watched Fame Academy, but we did happen across it one nght while channel surfing on Skyfor something to watch.

Alex was the little spiky haired punky looking chick right ?? We heard her sing - well more correctly utterly crucify - Blondie's Heart of Glass. My God, what an awful voice !! Reminded me of the cat in a blender jokes of old... Flat, out of tune, generally pants !

If she won, well, the rest of the participants must have voices akin to the sound of a hoover.

I was unfortunate enough, while waiting in my local chinese for our friday night chow a couple of weeks back, to hear her again on TOTP singing Coldplay's Yellow. I was impressed - that she could actually sound worse than she did with the Blondie track !

If this is what stands for talent nowadays, the future is looking bleak...

My taste in music certainly isnt to everyones liking, but at the very least, when these guys rant they stay in tune !!

:Pinkbounc :eek: :crazy: ::yes:: :bounce:

Hi BeeJayJay
Im more into your taste in music too,But in her defense Heart of glass was Shocking!! And was the only time she got a slating off the teachers!
I prefer Fame Academy as its more musician orientated concentrating on songwriting, performing etc
I cant be doing with Pop Idol glorified Karaoke show,Search for a crooner,All the shows are just temporary entertainment anyway where exactly are David Sneddon,Will Young etc! The BBC should commision a show where they have to create a rock band.
I got Korns autographs at the Kerrang stage at Donington 96 They were well scary I also met Pete Steele the same day Im 6.5" and go to the gym 5 times a week but that guy dwarfed me!!

anyway.....where is Will Young ?

To answer your question, Will has had a busy & very successful year in Europe, performing and featuring heavily in the charts in several countries.

Although he's kept a very low profile in the UK, last Sunday he headlined the Music & Laughter for Milly (Dowler) nigt at the London Palladium which raised over £40, 000 for Milly's Fund - a scheme to make teenagers more safety concscious. He also performed his first full solo gig - an outdoor concert in Exeter in July - in aid of Positive Action South West. It was absolutely fantastic - the guy was born to sing live (did you know he has never, ever mimed a performance? How many 'singers' can say that these days?)

The reason he's taken time out has been to write (yes, write) and record his second album which apparently is a long, long way from Pop Idol - its been done 'his' way - less of the over production, less bubble gum pop, more emphasis on the voice. (Cos believe it from one who knows, Will is a fantastic live performer)

You're probably not in the least bit interested but I'm going to tell you anyway lol !! 'Leave Right Now' is released on November 24th followed by the album 'Friday's Child' on December 1st. The single is getting its first airing on Sunday evening - unless you're a member of the Official website when you can her some of it on Friday online :Pinkbounc

Sorry!! The wrath of Will Young appreciation society! Gigging in Europe could mean clubs,Theatres,Arenas or stadiums! What is pop idol standard ?
Hes still active in the music business obviously but people shouldnt get confused on how big he is If he sells 100,000 copies of a cd in this day that is classsed as succesful
In the 80s Bon Jovi released slippery when wet and sold over 15 million the follow up New Jersey sold only 8 million and was considered a flop!
Im not having a go at Will Young just the way the industrys hyping up
these young pop idols who are lucky to have a 2 year career!

Absolutely no apology necessary - I was simply answering your question as a long term member of the Will Young Appreciation society :teeth:

Its a popular misconception that Will is finished and the more people I can get the truth across to the better as far as I'm concerned - but then I am biased :p As far as Will is concerned he is trying to get as far away from the Pop Idol tag as possible - that is why Gareth is being promoted as if he was the winner in many countries and has taken over the Pop Idol torch.

Europe has not been solo gigs but promotion for Light My Fire and more recently You & I (Evergreen has not been released) - but he has been on line ups with Mary J Blige, Sting, Craig David et al in arenas & stadiums (or should that be stadia ?) in places like Amsterdam, Rome & Verona (huge 100,000+ event).

I totally agree with you about the way the industry treats these people and the hype that is generated. They're built up as the next big thing then dumped as soon as the teenyboppers find the next cute face to appear on a record sleeve (see how old I am ??) and they fail to get to number one. I just happen to think that Will is a the exception to prove the rule and not who the industry was expecting to win the competition. He refused to play things their way - that is why he hasn't released anyhing for over a year. They certainly didn't expect the tenacity of his fans and their determonation to spread the Will word :hyper:
