Is it possible for a dog that has been spade to have a false pregnancy? My little dog Cinderella is all mopey, and she looks as though as her milk is coming in. One vet said, yes it is possible, the other no.

Our little daushound was spade and had several false pregnancies. Her milk would come in and she would get moody. She lived to be 16.....what a sweet dog she was.

Yes, it is. I posted a link somewhere a month or two ago. If you google "false pregnancy in spayed female dog" you should be able to find some info. I believe it's relatively uncommon, but it can happen.

I posted on that thread as well. My little dog went through her first false pregnancy right after she was spayed, our vet claimed she should not go through anymore, but it seems like they are becoming more frequent:confused: so not sure if something else is going on.

That's strange. You think there'd be more literature on it. Maybe she's got an unusual hormone level? How often is this happening? Can you tell us more details? There is a vet here, maybe she'll have some answers or resources for you.

Here's a bump to see if anyone else has had this issue.
