Day 3, Tuesday, April 27 - Magic Kingdom
Even though I got up at 630am, we still didn't get out till 830am. DH, usually the early riser, became the tough to get out of bed. I tend to be a night owl who likes to sleep late, but on vacations like these you need to get up early and get rolling. We still ended up doing pretty much everything we wanted to do.
The busses were still great and we didn't wait long for one to the MK. Headed for Tomorrowland where the crowds were light (around 915am I think). Got a FP for Buzz Lightyear and rode Space Mountain - walked right on with no wait at all. I first rode Space Mountain as a teenager (way back in the late 70's!
) and I think it might have been the first roller coaster I ever rode. So it was neat riding it again and while I still liked it, I guess I remembered it a little differently. DH and DS rode it again since the line was very short while DD and I studied the map. Next we all rode Indy Speedway. Even though there is a posted 51" height requirement to drive the car, they didn't enforce it while we were there. Lots of little kids were driving. But they really only get to steer since their feet can't reach the gas pedal, so a taller person has to do that. The CMs were not on the ball so they waved DH and DS's car around for a second time! We could have too but I didn't want the CM to suddenly realize we already went round and start yelling at us, so DD and I got out.
The line for Astro Orbiter was too long so we took a leisurely ride on the TTA. Rode Buzz Lightyear with our FPs but I didn't get a very high score since once again, I was too busy taking pictures! I found the button kind of hard to hold down, it made my thumb hurt. We have a Scooby Doo ride in the King's Island amusement park near us in OH that is kind of similar and it is much easier on your hands to press the trigger, more comfortable.
It started to sprinkle and looked like it might rain for a while. Ponchos on! Caught the WDRR in Mickey's Toontown Fair to Frontierland. It started to pour. Got FP for Splash Mountain and rode BTMR in the rain.
It was raining steadily so we decided to eat lunch at Pecos Bill Cafe. It was packed with people both eating and just standing out of the rain. DH had the cheeseburger meal, DD and DS ate the kid's hot dog meal and I had the chicken wrap with a side order of carrots (instead of fries), which was pretty good. The rain became intermittent, so the three of them went on Splash Mountain with FP. I chickened out because I felt damp enough already and the day was a little cool for being wet, low 70s. I get all grouchy when I'm wet with regular clothes on, not a swimsuit, unless it's sunny and warm. So I headed into a shop to look around instead. They had fun but didn't get very wet after all, they were in the second row of the boat.
It started to rain again and we headed for the Haunted Mansion. A little boy (maybe about 3) was begging his parents not to go on the ride and that he wanted to go home, but they told him "the bus won't be here till the end of the day so we can't leave". I don't know if the boy was just tired or was scared of the ride but I think they should have just taken him on another ride. The screaming was piercing to our ears so when the line split we headed for the line they weren't in.
Moved on to Fantasyland (which was rather crowded) and got FPs for PhilharMagic. Got in line for Peter Pan's Flight. The sign said the wait was 20 minutes but once we got in it, it was very slow moving. I went to go check the sign and it was now 70 minutes, which changed to 75 minutes as I walked up! This ride wasn't high on our priority list so we got out of line and went on IASW with only a 20 minute wait. A poster on this board had said this ride was run down and had spit wads everywhere but we didn't see any. Even though it's cheesy, we all liked it and were singing along.
After the ride we decided to get FPs for Peter Pan but the machine didn't state what the return time was on it. We put our UPHs in anyway and when we got the them the return time was for 650-750pm (it was only around 330pm at the time). We planned to be back at POFQ then. A female CM overheard us express our dismay and offered to help. She went to talk to some of the other CMs, then came back and told us to go ahead and use the FPs right then!
The ride was cute and then we used our FPs for PhilharMagic. I absolutely loved it! It was my favorite of the 3D movies we saw and my favorite attraction of the day.
We went back to POFQ to rest, swim, and order some in-room pizza delivery from Sassagoula Pizza Delivery, which was tasty. Then we experienced our first long wait for the bus ride back to the MK. Rode POTC
and scouted out a good position in the Liberty Square area to wait for Spectro Magic. We had a yummy Mickey ice cream sandwich while we waited. It was definitely worth the wait. Spectro Magic was enchanting. Loved it! Afterwards we headed to Main Street to watch Wishes. Just beautiful. It was a magical way to end the day.
Have I mentioned that I'm falling in love with this place?
