Fall/Fall Advantage 2008

ok i cant decide..... should I do Attractions or Hospitality... im still worried about getting sick of the parks if i do attractions but if im stuck in a hotel doing hospitality im worried about wishing i was in the parks! ahhhh! help!

Well, if you pick attractions, you may get stuck working at Disney Quest, which may be fun... i don't know... I worked in a resort, and now i want to go back to work in the parks... i guess it depends on your preference. if you feel stronger about one, i would make it your first choice. I think there are benefits to both. Plus if you are majoring in hospitality, it would increase your chances and give you a better insight into hospitality! :)

BBBUUUUUTTTT, that's my opinion! :cutie:

thats a really good question. I was worried about the same thing as you. I really want a career at the animal kingdom one day so I think this program could be a test for me if I can handle working in the parks and not ruining the magic.

I've got a question - I submitted my application earlier today but have not recieved an e-mail confirming they got it. Are we supposed to get an e-mail, does anyone know how long it takes?

yeah i think it was a few days after i applied when i got my email. It just says thanks for applying. its like 3 sentences long.

I couldn't schedule my interview last week because I had about 0 hours of free time, but I'm going to call today to schedule an interview!!!

Isn't that sad that I'm nervous about calling for the interview!!!! :scared: Then I'm going to have to study to see what I'm going to potentially say to some of the questions. I know that there's about 1 million posts saying what questions they ask you, they ask about yourself and why you want to do the program and what if a kid pulled your tail as a character and what if a kid was too short to ride a ride and bla blah blah. But any other tips or suggestions or specific questions, maybe for a character attendant? :confused3 :worship:

Thanks!:grouphug:

No, it's not sad.:) I was extremely nervous for my first CP interview. Just remember to relax, be honest with your answers, smile, and have fun. The recruiters are really nice.

As for character attendant questions, I did that in FA 2006. But I got performer questions (since I was auditioning). I would guess that possible questions could be:
1) What would you say to a guest if the line is closed, and they are mad?

2) What answer could you give if someone asked "is that a boy or girl in that costume?"

3) What would you do if a kid is pulling on Tigger's tail?

I applied for character attendant as my 2nd or 3rd choice, and the one question that really threw me was, "What does the phrase 'integrity of the character' mean to you?" I def didn't see that one coming lol

That's a good question! You get so many questions from guests about that.

I know that my questions were basically experience questions and why I wanted to do the program. i also got the famous space mountain question. She didn't ask me anything about the character attendant role.
I was very nervous, but it went well! I know yours will also! :goodvibes

Alright! I'm scheduled for this Thursday at 6:30 with Jaimie.

Thanks for your advice on the questions everyone, the one about "is that a girl or boy in that costume" kind of got me...I guess I would say, "What? That's **insert character here** and then try to change the subject quickly. Or is it appropriate to say that it's a "friend of Tiger's" or something?

Well, anyways, thanks for the advice guys!

~Leslie :thumbsup2

I can't even begin to count how many times I was asked that question. What I say is "No, Mickey's not wearing a costume. He's wearing a suit". Or if asked "is it hot in there?" I'll say something like "it's 98.6*, just like everyone else" or "I always tell Baloo he should shave his fur. But he is too stubburn".

Good luck!:thumbsup2

SO how bad is it that I've already started buying stuff for the program in the fall? I bought a bed set last night. lol Its friggen fabulous! haha

So none of my freinds want me to go...lol they want me to get rejected cause they'll miss me too much. It makes me feel loved. lol I told my best that I'm going to replace her with Jack Sparrow, and he's gonna be my new best friend. haha I'm so mean.

Anyways, I'm the same way with buying stuff for the program, I haven't bought anything yet, but whenever I see something I think to mysefl, ooh, I have to buy that for DCP. What type of bed set did you get? I know on the little preview of the rooms online they have a Disney princess bed spread or something, I think I want that! lol Hey, if your at Disney why not? :cloud9:

So i just got off the phone with Disney....

heres how it went....

I spoke to Annie and she had told me not to worry about my app. She told me that she wasn't able to devuldge the information about my application. But she did tell me that i should calm down (she said it in a NICE WAY!) but that everything would be great! and i feel as though she was excited for me...but wasn't able to tell me anything. i don't know whether to get so excited or just calm down? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

WOW on monday? You did great! which dept did you apply for?

I only checked off Attractions and Recreation since I have had lots of experience in quick service f&b as well as custodial before and I wanna try something different! My recruiter, Randy from the Chicago area, seemed really positive about my interview so my hopes are high!
