Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

I just need to stay away from the alligator threads. And stop reading comments on Facebook. Compassion and kindness seems to have been overtaken by sanctimonious jerks.

In other news the new Star Wars fireworks show at HS debuts tomorrow and I'm hoping it's awesome!

Also I got pulled over for speeding today - I had just passed a SLOW car (going 10 under) and then at the bottom of a hill was going 15mph over. Cop on a motorcycle got me. Then it turns out my proof of insurance expired 5 days ago :rolleyes1

Thankfully he was super nice and understanding, just told me to watch my speed and let me go. My state trooper husband would have been none too pleased with me for getting a ticket LOL

I do too but I can't seem to stop! I blame no one but obviously Disney's liability is not up to me. Now all these reports that Disney knew there was a problem and did nothing are angering me as much as the parent shaming. I can't believe Disney anticipated that an alligator would attack and kill a guest and did nothing to stop it. Hindsight is 20/20 and people coming out of the woodwork with all this stuff is annoying. If you really knew it was a problem and Disney wasn't doing anything then take it further up the chain of command. I just don't like the blame game.

ETA: I'm excited about the Star Wars fireworks as well!

I know, I really should have stepped away hours ago but grrrrr. The sanctimony is what gets me too.

OOoooo can't wait to hear about the fireworks!!

Haha!!! Glad you just got the warning.

I don't like the blame game either. The whole thing is just tragic. :(

This week has been so busy! Work on top of work, and kids had some sports things this week, we've been running. Can't wait for tomorrow to go camping.

I've seen the prices on Southwest going up and down, my flights in particular though haven't gone lower than the day they were released. I'm glad I got them then. I'm actually kicking around renting a car for our first night, we get in Friday night and originally I was going to do a hotel with a shuttle and then DME but if we rented a car I could just drive to the hotel, and then drive to Disney the next morning, with a stop at Walmart or whatever to get some in-room snacks and save us the delivery fee and a ton of time. Does anyone know if there any way to get a deal on a 1-day car rental, particularly through one of the companies with an on-site facility (Alamo or National)? Should I just wait?

Oops! Now you should know better than to drive with a lead foot. I'm glad you posted this because I keep forgetting to put my new card in the car.

I think you can book a dessert party for this too.

I haven't rented a car in forever, but that's a good thought. I'm hoping to use Amazon prime now for some drinks and snacks. I think. Haha

We rented a car many years ago but don't remember being able to find deals for on property. There are a few right by downtown Disney. I am debating renting one for the weekend to go to universal but my DH wants to just use uber. I'm worried we won't be able to get one.

I am so glad this group has had so much compassion! I keep reading things also and should just stop.

Frozen opens in less then a week. Surprised there has been no new pics or soft opening.

I'm looking forward to hearing about Frozen too!

Is that a thing, where you can't get an Uber when you need it? My DH was planning to Uber to Universal too but just for the day and on a Tuesday. We've never used it before, so I don't really know how it works.

I haven't ruled it out yet, but the dessert parties seem kinda meh to me. The kids would love the desserts, but if they have standing tables only that kills it for me even more. If I do splurge on it I need a seat for my lazy stroller pushed 7 year old :rolleyes2
My cousin recommended I try the dessert party at MK, but I think I'd rather grab a funnel cake and watch the fireworks from Fantasyland or the bridge in Frontierland. I'm still struggling with paying extra for Halloween party tickets this year. :scared:

My husband has looked and says there is always a ton in the area.
Here in pa he tried to get an uber for the us open yesterday and there wasn't one. So now I am worried. He told me there are a whole lot more ubers in fl. I'm probably way over thinking it!! I haven't seen anyone that has had a problem. I always like a back up plan.
DH has used them in multiple states with no problems.

Yeaaaah we are staying value and trying to be as frugal as possible! We will use a snack credit for a Mickey bar and watch fireworks for free ;)

I use Uber regularly. About 4 times a week actually. We live about 3 miles outside Dallas. The only time I couldn't get an Uber is when there was a huge festival in downtown Dallas, (beer fest, concerts, celebrities) and when they had a golf tournament. Otherwise no problem.

I will know tomorrow if we are going to WDW or DL.

We did the Merry and Bright dessert party last year for the Osborne Lights and it was just okay. The desserts weren't special and honestly the Pumpkin Spice Waffle and ice cream I had from Sleepy Hollow while watching Holiday Wishes two nights before was sooo much better so I'm with you on the funnel cake :)

Good to know! I've never used Uber but was planning to this trip for ADRs at other resorts since they were supposed to be getting Uber Family this year. I never would have even thought I would have had a problem!
