Which do you prefer?
I am, of course referring to Christmas trees...

We buy a real one every year. I love the smell and we get one with good needle retention and we water it regularly. However, we pay almost £40 for a Nordmann Fir and I was wondering what other people prefer.

I was looking at realistic artificial trees - has anyone got one?

Can you tell that I'm feeling festive.:goodvibes

I love real trees even the going to get them and choosing the tree I find exciting but we have a fake tree now as DD will be 9 months and crawling and rolling around I didn't want her to be picking up needles etc!
I have to say though I love our new tree it's so full and large!

Nothing beats a real tree for me. I have contemplated getting an artificial tree this year though as we now have a kitten who will probably think that the tree is a new toy for him and I want to put the tree elsewhere in the house this year and it will be next to a radiator. I've yet to see one that I like for under £100 though.

We first switched to fake trees when we had a dog and I didn't want any needles getting stuck in paws etc

We now have 3 fake trees which have lovely full branches and everyone always comments on how nice they look. You do have to be very careful and take your time choosing the right fake tree - after all it's going to come out year after year after year...........:rotfl:

I would love to have a real tree, I don't think you can beat the smell and the look of them, but because I put mine up so early I have to have a fake one as a real one would be a pile of twigs by the time Christmas came round :santa::rotfl:

I used to always have a real tree - was my 'thing'. But not very practical - used to have to switch the radiator in the front room off and needles everywhere.

After DD was born I got a nice 6ft fake from john lewis.

Costco have a stunning one in at the moment - 7ft and covered with lights - costs over £200. Can't justify it as the john lewis one wasn't cheap.

I'm tempted to get a fake one in the January sales. Might check some out... Wouldn't mind paying around £120 ish as it would pay for itself in 3 years. I'll probably change my mind once we get ou real one though!

I bought a fake one, in the sales, several years ago for if ever we were too "hard up" to buy a real one ;)

It's still in it's box in the attic and has never seen the light of day - somehow, however little spare cash is around, I don't seem to be able to bring myself to use it :confused3
:goodvibes

Firstly...Happy Christmas All...:santa:

I am also in the 'love real trees but' camp! You can get really nice fake trees but you do need to spend a bit of money, so buying in the January sales is a good idea. :thumbsup2

Nothing beats the smell of a real tree but where I live they are very expensive. I have a very good artificial one that looks real and is covered in lights and on that note just away to take it out of the box :)

We paid around £35 for one just under 6ft last year. Might have gone up again this year.

We have gone for artificial - but it is a black one so not pretending to be real. It looks stunning with silver and red decorations (MIckey heads of course!)

We always have fake trees, even whilst growing up. Husband's family have real ones though.
I'm going to go against the grain and say I love fake trees and wouldn't have a real one!

We've got a 'living' tree this year, it's a real one that you keep supposedly forever. Once Chirstmas is done, it'll go in the garden/house until next year. It's not too big yet, and we could only put about half of the decorations on it, but it'll get bigger every year.

It was only £40 and with discount £32! from Van Hages. Hopefully it will survive till next year ;) Worth a try anyway!

And because it comes in a pot with soil, it wasn't a pain in the you know what getting it to stand up straight. :thumbsup2

We bought a living tree a few years ago which seemed a good idea at the time but the following year I couldnt bear to bring it back into the house - I kept thinking of all the crawly things which would have buried themselves in the soil throughout the year so it stayed outside :rotfl:

I've got a fake tree which winds me up every year as i assemble it branch by branch, then winds me up more as i take it apart and try and shove each branch back into the box while it scratches my hands up:rotfl2: BUT for sentimental reasons i will keep it as long as possible, I remember assembling the tree when i was a child so it kind of is the start of xmas to me.
Tonight I just went and bought a 3ft black tree for my daughter's room as well, asda were selling them for £3.75, we just couldnt leave it at that price:goodvibes

Wow I was ripped off - I paid £5 for my 3ft black tree at Tesco :rotfl:

That's a very good point. It was seeing my friend put together her branch by branch tree that made me choose one where the branches just fold down. My friend's tree is beautiful but not worth the phaff!

We got ours at the local garden centre - but as we never decorate until a week before Christmas at the earliest we were lucky with a late bargain.
