I got this from the allears newsletter. Am I reading this right? They are just changing the name right?

NEWS BITES
Beginning February 7, 2010, Fairytale Dining is the new name for the character dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. (There no longer will be specific names, such as "Once Upon a Time Breakfast" and "A Fairytale Lunch.") Current pricing remains in effect. Reservations are now available. In this Fairytale Dining experience, you will have a photo opportunity with Cinderella in the castle lobby, as she welcomes all to the feast at Cinderella's Royal Table. Cinderella's Royal Friends, the Disney Princesses, will mingle with restaurant patrons as they dine.

Please tell me they are not adding Princesses to Dinner. I love the Princesses as much as most 5 year old girls do :upsidedow, but I don't want them at dinner. That is the one meal in the Castle that doesn't seem as rushed.

Help!

WOW -
I agree...

I'll "Stay Tuned".......

Hope they don't change the dinner menu....

Mary

Cindy's was always a must for us. I don't like the limited menu or the set price. We normally choose dinner. The menu is a little better and more relaxed. If they dumb this down anymore? We will stop dining at the Castle.

I really hate what they have done to Cinderella's. They've gone way overboard. They are ruining it.

Thanks for being as concerned as me :lmao:. I have not heard anything new yet, but the way the paragraph reads, it is just a little ambiguous and I don't like it one bit (said while stomping foot on the floor like my 3 year old :rotfl2:).

Does anyone have some inside info the rest of us don't? Am I reading this wrong or did they write it wrong or are they indeed changing things around?

I found this question and answer on the Mom's panel from 12/1/09...

Q: I just called to book a dining at the Royal Table and was told that the princesses aren't there anymore during breakfast and lunch. That you get to see cinderella before going in, and then its just other characters during. I was shocked. Any info?

A: Hi Laura! We just got the information about these changes taking place for the new Fairytale Dining starting February 7, 2010 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. In this new dining experience the guests will have the opportunity for a photo experience with Cinderella in the castle lobby before heading upstairs to dine. During the meal itself, Cinderella's Royal friends and Princesses will mingle with the guests.

Since this will be beginning in February none of us have had the opportunity to experience it and thus we can only pass on the information that has been sent about the new changes. For all meals, Cinderella will be present and then you will see more friends and princesses during your dining time. It sounds like a great change for one of the most popular dining experiences on property. It will allow all families to enjoy the same characters no matter what meal they are able to get a reservation for.

So it sounds like all 3 meals will be with characters, and not necessarily all princesses. I really liked the show with the FGM and mice that they do at dinner, and was hoping to be able to book if for our trip in June (though strangely, there is no dinner availability in June, just plenty of breakfast and lunch) I hate to see the current dinner go away :(

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!

OMG, I really hope they aren't ruining dinner.

gtpoohbear - Thanks for the info (although as you can tell, it was NOT what I wanted to hear lol).

I don't normally write to complain to Disney, but I think I am going to write (not to complain, but to aks for confirmation) and see what response I get. I just can't stand waiting until February to find out what is going on.

OK...

I currently have lunch reservations for May (bc I obviously wanted my DD3 to have that whole character experience. But I do agree with some of you-- I do think that dinner should remain "princess-less" so as to allow for people to experience dining in the castle without the character-meal atmostphere (If it weren't for my kid, I would actually prefer the non-character meal).

But here's my question... Will lunch remain a buffet and dinner a table-service? Or are they re-arranging menus as well??? Anyone have an idea?

No one is quite sure about what exactly is changing yet. The information that was released was ambiguous at best and may be completely wrong at worst.

I have written a letter to Disney asking what exactly has changed and I asked them to call me, so I will also ask them if the menu will be changing as well. I will post as soon as I hear something.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that they leave dinner alone :).

I am looking forward to hearing the "official response" about the changes. Thanks for asking

Lunch isn't a buffet now, it's a set menu. We were just there on Thursday & had a standard menu to choose from. There was a family style appetizer platter, about 6 choices for lunch and 3 for dessert, plus kids choices.

We had a fantastic lunch, I thought WAY more enjoyable & less rushed than the dinner we had there 2 years ago :confused3 The princesses' visits were fairly quick, but I was ok with that -- they were done quickly and then we were able to actually focus on eating food rather than hopping up every 5 minutes for a picture.

It sounds as though all three meals will have circulating princesses (and possibly other characters), and Cinderella herself will not circulate but be available only for her photo op - sort of combining the former dinner policy with that of the other two meals.

I guess I'm the only one who is excited that dinner will now have Princesses  Another character meal in MK gets a :thumbsup2 from me

I totally agree with you ! We were going to do breakfast so my DD could see the princesses....now I think we'll do a breakfast and dinner for her ! I think it's terrific ! It's Disney afterall.....and if you're at the Magic Kingdom, aren't you there for "All Things Disney" ? That's what makes it fun and special. Because once you go home, there's no characters there .....:sad2:

I know! I love character meals and MK needs more IMO (bring them back to LTT!), but I love dinner at the Castle for the simplicity of it. It's quiet and although I know a lot of people won't agree, but my DH and I found it very romantic when we ate there on our anniversay in 2007.

Also, I got the feeling that Belle's restaurant may have characters when it opens in 2012. And before everyone gets excited, I don't know this for a fact, I don't have any insider information that confirms this, and I could very well be completely wrong. It's just the feeling I got when I watched the Fantasyland expansion announcement.

I guess my feeling is this: Right now, there is only one Castle to eat at in MK. Why does every meal there have to involve charcters (in the true sense of a character meal)? Can't one of the meals be a quieter version for those who prefer that to the loudness of the other meals?

I just went out to Disneyworld.com and did live chat w/ a CM to ask if there were going to be Princesses at dinner. Wouldn't you know, he had NO idea if this were even true. Are CM's always the last to know ?? :confused3
He said to periodically keep checking back.

Yeah, unfortunately it is pretty common. That's why if I have aquestion and I can't wait to find out the answer (as in this case ;)), I write to guest services and see what they say.

The CM's who are there may get information closer to time for the change if it doesn't really affect their job.

It is true. Beginning February 7th there will be Princesses at dinner. I can say this with 100% certainty.
