Fairy Wings okay on Adult

I am going to dress as a Fairy on Halloween morning at DLR. I read the dress guidelines and it looks like what I am wearing is fine but it says "transparent" fairy wings. My wings are fabric but are large and brightly colored. What do you think?

Costumes are not allowed on those over 14 unless attending Oogie Boogie Bash.

You won’t have an issue wearing a costume at any point in either park on an OBB day.

As for the wings, I would guess it’s a safety thing. If they’re big, they could block visibility for people and be a problem… I’d be prepared with a back-up if they don’t make it past security.

I don't think it matters if you are attending on Halloween or not. Costumes on adults are not permitted, expect at the OBB after hours party.

You are best off trying to do an online chat with Disney to get a definite answer though.

Not sure it’s a hard and fast rule on OBB days. Last year people were wearing costumes at DL before OBB. We saw people dressed up as early as park opening. We ourselves went into DL in costume before the OBB mix-in time so we could get a picture (we were dressed as Mr Toad and the Judge and wanted a pic outside the Wild Ride).

I’m not sure you’re going to get an accurate answer from a chat with Disney. You are likely chatting with someone who has no inside knowledge besides what’s on the website.

We have frequently, repeatedly worn costumes on OBB days, at both parks, at all times of day.

We sometimes take advantage of OBB days to go into Disneyland in the morning in costumes we wouldn’t get to wear otherwise, just for photo ops.

The wings absolutely might be an issue. But simply wearing a costume into Disneyland on an OBB day will not be an issue.

No one bats an eye at an adult in costume on an OBB day, no matter what time of day it is or what park you’re in.

That said, if costume pieces are against the dress code you might very well be stopped and asked to remove them.

I've worn a costume (twice) to DL before OBB. A CM photographer even came running over to my son and I and escorted us behind the Millennium Falcon for a private photo shoot. R2D2 even rolled over and joined in. It was amazing.

I totally get that. I feel the same. But it would be so inconvenient to make the OBB guests who come early to enjoy the parks wear regular clothes then make them change in a public restroom for the party. Not to mention the costumes with elaborate makeup and hair.

Adults also come to the parks (Galaxy’s Edge especially) dressed up for May the 4th. They come early before the party and I’m sure it would be a huge pain to have to change.

I saw an entire group of adults dressed up in Galaxy's Edge when I was there in May (well after the 4th). I thought it odd but also assumed they didn't come dressed in their robes but changed into them after they were in the parks/Galaxy's Edge.

I kinda just wish you can dress how you want just not masks

I know it will never happen but....to me its weird you can dress up like Harry Potter students but not like star Wars characters

Whats the point of the land if you can't dress to fit in?



Also Six Flags allows people to dress like Super heroes. This one guy last summer dressed up as Blue Beetle and went to the Super Hero event they had and the Hero's like Batman ad Superman would talk to him about the outfit...I feel like its just fun to let people dress up.

It would be scary to think about someone dressing up as a beloved Disney character and how easily kids could be taken advantage of that way. I'm not saying that ever happened, but I can see why Disney would want to make sure it did not.

Yes, they’ve really cracked down on guests taking pictures with other guests in Disney costumes because they want to protect the branding for those characters. In addition to the safety/branding, there’s also a lot of liability if you have people videoing themselves in the park impersonating characters - doing advertising, for instance? It’s quite a complicated issue.

It could easily depend on who you get at the security screening. 2 of our days there the security folks let my wife in with her cane-chair mobility aid (which are clearly allowed by Disneyland's policies) without even batting an eye, but one day the security guard tried to take it away. I wasn't with the family at that time (10 minutes behind them) or I could have easily pointed the security person to the website (google permitted items Disneyland) or called a lead to come. My wife is more timid. Thankfully another guest came to her rescue, not with the policy but indicating she wasn't sitting on it and needed it to walk. Security guy said the second they see her unfold it they will take it away. Of course no one in the park did. Point is, some security people don't even know their own policies so it's really hit or miss at screening.

I got a different pair of fairy wings--much smaller (and had fun spray painting them and adding flowers) and if I have to give them up it is okay. I appreciate all of the input. I love my Disboards! They have had death Eaters in the park and kids dressed as Harry Potter....and nothing happened. To me this shows part of why Disney has lost its magic the lawyers took awya Tom Sawyer island as well

After the whole Disney Plus thing....feels like you could just have people signing their name for a ticket saying that any characters or look alike don't represent the company and it be fine legally at least.
Also OBB proves its not that big of a deal...if it was then we'd see issues at OBB but we don't so its all in there head.
