Newbie here, but thought anyone buying currency might like to know that if they go to the matalan site, they are offering £5 free cash if you load at least £100. It says for today on the site, so don't know if it is only on offer today. Rate at the moment, (just checked) is $1.4575.
What is it Tesco says......'every little helps!'!
Jules

the Matalan offer has on been around for at least a month (I got mine with the £5 a month ago). Doesn't work for a second card though :thumbsup2

not sure if this is ok to post on her but the dibb has a free card link on there site that works for as many cards as you need.

i have never heard of these cards... though why not just use your standard bank card??

Is the fairfax card worth getting? Can anyone recommend any other credit cards that are worth considering for use in the States??

love this card, used it last year to pay for our disney wedding, used it while in florida to draw from a cash machine and use to pay for goods with no problem. accepted anywhere a mastercard is. we used it in mexico on honeymoon as well

I am topping up already for this years holiday as well

I've just put some on mine at 1.46. I wish I'd bought it last year when we got back, decided to bit the bullet now. If It goes up I'll get some more, otherwise, I'll just use my nationwide credit card and debit card and pay the charges.

Here's hoping it will go to 2.00 by August----------------------------------
------did you all see the pig gly past your windows!!:rotfl2:

These cards are not credit cards but prepaid currency cards, so much safer than taking cash.
You just load the card up whenever you feel like it so a good way of putting a little on every month if you wanted to save that way.

I would never use my bank card abroad unless I absolutely must, my bank charges some ridiculous fees. With these cards you get pretty much the best exchange rate around and can use the card anywhere in the US that takes MasterCard (so that's pretty much everywhere) you can take cash from a cash machine but there's a few $$ charge.

Can't recommend these enough, everyone in our family's got them now. LOL

I am in the middle of deciding whether to get one of these for our holiday in 5 weeks time -are you able to use them @ Disney say just to buy an ice-cream or fries?

anywhere that accepts mastercard will accept the fairfx card. I dont know it the stalls take cards but i'm sure all the shops do

I had no problem using ours in any of the stores

Hi Sarah,

It was thanks to your TR that we first heard about the Fairfx card and got some so thank you! Wish we had got one before the exchange rate dived though...
