Fairfield Inn or Candy Cane???

We just stayed at the Fairfield Inn last week. Here are my thoughts:

Pros: Close, can see fireworks, comfortable beds, clean, great housekeeping (she arranged my sons stuffed animals in the same way that the DL hotels have), pizza hut onsite that also offers grab and go breakfast, convenient to other restaurants, queens (not doubles), were extremely accomodating of my special requests when I called them (my daughter is noise sensitive and has a fear of heights - they let me pick what level of floor she would be most comfortable with and told me that they would put us on the Disney side, not the freeway side to keep her from the noise).

Cons: It's a hotel, not a resort. No real landscaping per se. That close walk can seem far with feet hurting on the way back (the 7 minute morning walk took me half hour with my feet throbbing on the way back at night). Balconys have cracks in the concrete which can look a bit scary although I don't think there is any structural problem.

Candy Cane - While we have not stayed there, I will make one comment based on an observation that I had. We had to walk through the shuttle area on our way to and from the parks and we were really impressed with how often we saw shuttle busses for both the Candy Cane Inn and the Sheraton Anaheim. I would definitely consider staying at either of these hotels now that I see how well there shuttles are run.

I posted areview on Trip Ad for CCI, only because I was impressed. I even put oour family pics on there. It was beuatifully landscaped, it is still small enough that you don't feel "lost" and the breakfast we perfect for a quicky before the parks. The poll is not huge by any means, and IMO wayyyy too many little kids in the hot tub, but that seems hotel universal. The walk if taken ispleasnt because it is along the Disney landscaped side of Harbour. The biggest pay off was the shuttle. Clean, quick, superb professional friendly drivers, and my feet thanked me a million times voer a week.

We have never stayed at the Fairfield because for the price I would take a shuttle and breakfast any day.

This is a feature we look for in hotels and something I noticed in both Fairfield and CCI. Having the sink/vanity outside will be especially important when we'll all be trying to get ready and get out the door in a hurry!

Actually for August, CCI is cheaper than Fairfield (CCI Deluxe room $134, Fairfield $143 pay ahead rate, $161 AAA). So I'm surprised to hear most people have found Fairfield to be less expensive.

I've stayed at both & would stay at both again. The Fairfield is a little shorter walk (but both are close) BUT the the CCI has the dedicated minibus which we used half the time & was never "full".

Random Thoughts:

- If we had a person with walking challenges then i'd definitely pick the CCI.
- The landscaping & "feel" is nicer at the CCI.
- The continental Bfast was nice to have at the CCI
- but since we had to walk THROUGH McDs every morning at Fairfield...for $10 bucks i could feed our family of 4 for rope drop muching fare.
- The pool was nicer at CCI (but NOT resort quality like DH, HOJO or a dozen WDW lodging spots).
- The CCI shuttle was VERY handy & we took it for (coming & going) for our mid afternoon break & once at night....but was of no help early morning since we wanted to "line up" prior to the first shuttle run (that would have dumped us off 15 min. before opening).

I'd pay $25-$30 more for the CCI than the Fairfield because of two-three items above. (more if i had a senior with us). And if CCI was LESS than the Fairfield, I'd pick the CCI in a heartbeat.

But both motels were good choices.
