We're going to Disneyland Oct. 3-6 and planned to stay at one of the Disney properties using the Gay Days rate, the GC is $229, DH is $189 and PP is $179. Now I checked the Fairfield Inn Anaheim across the street from the entrance, and we can stay here for $75.86 per night. Do you think that it's worth double or triple the price to stay at a Disney hotel? We stayed at the GC last year and the hotel was beautiful and the location was perfect but we felt the service was lacking and it was $20 less last year. We've never stayed at DH or PP, but if we do stay at a Disney property, it would probably be one of these because of the rates. Has anyone stayed at the Fairfield and the DH or PP? How do these hotels compare and would you spend the extra money to stay at Disney? Thanks!

IMO, its soooo worth it. But it's a big SPLURGE. You could save alot if you just stayed across the street, off site.

Splurge vs Good Price...

We'll be staying at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn next week. If you don't mind the wait I'll let you know how we liked it once we're back. But I've heard it's a pretty nice hotel and it's right behind my favorite offsite restaurant, Millie's.

We stayed there in December, and planning on staying there in February. We had a king room with fold out sofa, even though there were only two of us. We had a room that faced DL, and seeing as it was so far back from Harbor, it was real quiet. Free high speed internet thrown in for good measure. You could do a lot worse. Close to Mimi's, Millies, and Mickey D's.:cool1:

I've stayed at the Fairfield, DLH, and PPH. For that difference in price, I'd go with Fairfield. The walk will be pretty much the same and $100 extra a day walking around cash will buy you a lot of Disney.

I work for Marriott and stayed at the Fairfiled for free 2 nights in December. It was clean and very convenient to walk to DL. SO worth saving all that money. IMO, it is not that "magical" staying on site where soemtimes the walk is farther and the price so much steeper.
The Fairfield had friendly employees, but was very loud when the fireworks went off. We had a sleeping toddler and would not choose a high floor on the DL side again. The view was amazing though. I was right under the fireworks outside my room. Very cool :)
I say save your money and eat more food once inside the parks.

Have fun!

Thanks for the replies!

brocklesnar69 - definitely a splurge!

Cabelle1863 - I'm looking forward to hearing about your stay. I've heard a lot about Mimi's but not much about Millie's. What type of food do they serve?

slruud - I'm hoping you write about your stay in February!

boiseflyfisher - You're right - $100 per night for 3 nights will pay for our tickets into the park plus a couple of meals!

pumpkin5156 - I'm glad you mentioned how close the fireworks were - I thought that with the hotel being set back from the street, that they might be pretty distant. The room we booked doesn't have a Disney view but I'm hoping that we get lucky and they put us in one anyway!

Thanks for asking this question. We just booked our trip for the end of February and will be staying at the Fairfield. I've been worrying about whether we made the right decision, as we stayed at the PP last year, but were trying to save some $ this time around.

We went in Oct. of 07. It is a hotel/motel.

Check the reviews on tripadvisor.com for more info...I wrote a review on there as well.

It is average at best.

Tripadvisor gives alot of good info on it though.

I've stayed at both the PP & the Fairfield. I think the "walk" to the front gate is identical. (of course walking thru DTD & the GCH is a little more festive). The Fairfield is a nice motel with an average non-descript pool. The PP is a nice Hotel with an average pool & a seperate slide.

To me, the PP is worth about $40 more per night & another $20-$30 if i get an extra MM (EE) day. Both are good.

Sure thing, I'll let you know our impressions of the hotel once we're back. We usually stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn and like it but thought a change would be fun.

Millie's serves all sorts of your usual family-style restaurant food; burgers, salads, chicken. We really like their breakfasts; eggs, pancakes, omlettes, etc. all filling and delicious for a really reasonable price.
