Hi all,

As the title says we are staying at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim on Harbor Blvd for our trip!

While we are still checking out deals, the lovely CM we booked our trip with told us about the Alamo rental car service near Paradise Pier that we can do day rentals with. Plus, with the $24 a day parking fee onsite, it seems that is going to be our plan for when we wish ( and will) to go to other places (though Knotts we will most likely uber to). We are planning a rest day during our trip and want to know what is available to do in walking distance that isn't Downtown Disney. We know of the Panera (which we are beyond thankful for because of the 4 closest to us 3 closed including the one in our town so all hail panera!) But are there any shops, various activities, fun things, etc. We will most likely sleep in that day and might want to check out the pool but don't want to be limited to the hotel area and DD that day.

Thanks all,

BH5

GardenWalk is close enough for other food options within walking distance. I think they have an AMC and escape room if you're really looking to fill time.

With a car you can obviously go to all the places around LA. I've taken friends to Santa Monica on an off day before visiting DCA before.

We stayed here recently (Mar 2-8) and while we did not go to the GardenWalk, it is a very walkable distance from this location as is DTD. With this close location we decided to save money on the car rental and stick with a Cab from SNA and walking; Overall, it was a great experience

Additionally, Panera was a huge hit in the mornings as we could stop for breakfast sandwiches with the kids and unlimited refills of Iced coffee which we would carry into the park. Far less crowded than Starbucks and much cheaper too :-)

Also, we were given a room on the 8th floor and the Fireworks views from the end of the hall were perfect!

The lovely CM who booked our trip actually gave us quotes for shuttles to and from SNA and they are actually very reasonable! And while I don’t mind a Starbucks iced tea, we are more Dunkin people. And we love Panera! It’s gonna be our go to for sure!

Now I’m hoping for a higher level room!

An escape room on vacation sounds amazing tbh! We almost did it one year when we just did day trips and we ultimately didn’t and regretted it!

Yeah, we were very blessed to get a high level room.

That being said, with the outside hallways you can easily walk up a few floors to watch the fireworks at the end of the hallways (closest to the park).

Here is the view from there. My phone doesn’t do it justice, but you can see the whole park!

Don't knock the ground floor rooms. We were all the way at the end on the ground floor near the pool, and it was really nice to be in their closest room to Disneyland....and the Panera for that matter. We only had to enter the building if we wanted to fill our water bottles at the gym or buy something at the cafe.

The closer I am to Panera, the happier I will be :)

We stayed at the Fairfield in Feb (we've stayed here before, we like it if we can't get into any DVC rooms) but our experience with that Panera was not that good. Just be prepared for very limited menu items and long waits, and be sure to pack some patience. We planned to pick up a dozen bagels to have in the room and they never seemed to have that many - at least in the evenings.
The service at the hotel was great though, they were really good about getting the toiletries and towels we requested, and like the PP mentioned, the views from the upper floors are great for fireworks and theme park viewing!

I feel like a lot of places have item shortages. We most likely will be heading there for breakfast.

Very happy to hear you had a great time at the hotel! Can’t wait to stay there!

We also saw some random occurrences of items being out of stock in the morning, but it was very rare and we were always able to get breakfast sandwiches for the family so you should be good.
