I hate it too, but when we're under 4 feet of snow I like remembering that sun and grass actually do exist in the world, and they weren't something I just imagined for half the year!!

My grandparents moved from Mattituck down to FL a few years ago. They come back up once or twice a year, and always bring a ton back down with them. My grandma must gain 10 pounds while she's up here just eating everything she missed so much!

And thanks, it should be great! Although I think they might be trying to get me to be in the dunk tank. At least I can cool off in there from this humidity.

My favorite fair food is funnel cakes. I love them with just powdered sugar. We have three fairs in our area this month and I plan to at least hit two of them for funnel cakes.

I love fair food! There's nothing better than walking around a good old country fair in the fall with the crisp air and the so good and bad for you food.

Favorites in no particular order:

homemade apple cider cold and hot
fried cheesecake
fried twinkies
peppers and sausages
peiroges (probably did not spell that right)
funnel cake
corn dogs
fresh squeezed lemonade slush thingys
chocolate dipped bacon
fried onions like blooming onions
fried butter
fried cookie dough

I have no idea what a zepole is though considering it's fried dough I'm sure it would be my friend

California State Fair just wrapped up, kind of a disappointment becaused they moved it up a month early, so none of the regular vendors were there, they all had commitments to other County Fairs. Chicken Charlie, the king of anything fried, was at the Orange County Fair in Southern California. He has done deep fried twinkies, battered deep fried White Castle burgers, and fried twinkies.
I did try the Chocolate covered bacon this year, not bad. Very much like a candy bar with salted peanuts in it. Never seen fried butter. They had chocolate covered crickets and mealworms this year, wasn't brave enough to try that.
In the past have tried ostrich burgers, and crawdads .

I don't think we have been to a good fair since we left PA.
The state fair here in KY is seriously lacking in the Fair Food department.

We went two years ago and were really disappointed to see that the stands all appeared to be owned by the same vendor and served the same boring food.
No foods on a stick, no fair corn, no fried foods that you wouldn't normally eat fried.....
Basically burgers, hot dogs, popcorn and funnel cakes.

Hope it is better this year, with a greater variety.

No way!!! They actually lived in Laurel along with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins, but no one even on LI ever knows where that is so I always say Mattituck! Wow what a small small world.

And I am definitely going in the dunk tank, but not tonight. I am very good friends with the guys in the fire dept, and they apparently have no one to go in so called and asked if I would volunteer. Apparently I raise more money than the boys do

Its a very well kept secret...that's why it seems so untouched all these years (even Derek Jetter owns out there )

Yes it is, I absolutely love it out there. I was so sad when my family moved back in from there. I'd love to move out there one day.

I am from Montana (fav fair food: Viking on a stick and cheese curds) but moved to PA 3 years ago. We got educated by locals at the county fair last year. Apple dumpling and garbage fries.
