Is this true!!! Does anyone know anyone that this has happen to? For what reason other than a serious crime like maybe the assault of someone would this happen?

Its too hard to enforce. I have friend that is banned but they never stopped him the second time he went in...

Agreed, but as one person in the linked thread points out, the main purpose of the "ban" is that it would make it easier for Disney to press criminal charges against someone if they are later found on the property again.

There are indeed people banned. Obviously with all the entries into Disney, it's not the easiest thing to enforce. But let's say you're banned and you get in an argument that security has to intervene. Well once they discover who you are, whereas they might have let you go without pressing charges for most, instead they're going to file charges for a minimum of trespassing.

It is mentioned in the "Mouse Tales" books that detail behind the scenes activites at Disneyland.

I rented a room for a couple of months from a girl that was banned for a year because she went to the mouseketeria to eat. She said she did it several times before getting caught.

A guy I know said he was in a fight and was told he was banned, I think for life. He had a common name and I could not see how they would enforce it though.

Given the finger scans at the turnstiles, it would seem Disney could potentially enforce these bans (at least for entry to the parks) if they could get an appropriate fingerprint of the offender at the time of the ban. However, I suspect there are legal obstacles - e.g., Disney could request but not mandate that an offender submit to fingerprinting.

Any DIS old timers remember the saga of ECurto/DTD/Shoplifting? :lmao:

Not sure I follow. The biometric scans have nothing to do with fingerprints.

Wal-Mart bans people and they are unable to enforce it so I would imagine that it would be close to impossible for Disney.

Even if you were banned and then got in an altercation that caused for security to be involved. They would have to have your name on some kind of list, they would have to get your name at the altercation and then they would have to prove it was the same person. Not all altercations are going to include criminal charges or even getting to the point of getting that kind of information.

I would imagine that it gives them that ability to make trespassing charges along with something else like say shoplifting or anything that would be an intial criminal charge.

I banned myself from Walmart and I enforce it strenuously!

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread. I also think of that when I'm at the mall--you know, just go from store to store and shop til you drop and pay after you have visited all the stores you want something from. ;)
