Facebook Question about Privacy

Hi-
When I log in to FB, I sometimes get flooded with "instant messages" from my friends. Is there ANY possible way to not show up when I sign on? Sometimes I just want to do my own thing on FB without chatting!

Go into the chat window, and click go offline (under options)

Click where you see chat and all your friends online pop up. Then click options and go "offline". That will make you invisible.

Lots of people do that who go into FB at work! hehe

I was getting annoyed and when I finally got it figured out I left it that way. I only become visible if I'm looking to talk to someone. LOL

That is exactly how mine is going to stay too!! I wish I would've asked this question months ago when I joined FB!

I have this one person that buddied me that I went to HS with for about 2 months - I wouldn't even reconize her if I saw her. Shes always trying to chat with me, I don't even know why!! I just don't answer her, and when I see shes gone off line, I'll answer her back saying "sorry I missed you!!"
