Today I was sent a friend request by someone I work with. I accepted it and immediately received two more. I know I probably should have ignored the first one and I think this will lead to many, many more friend requests. I've created a Group for these people, but can someone tell me how/where I would go in order to keep them from seeing everything on my page?

Thank you.

i don't know how to work the group privacy thing, but in a week or so, just block/delete them from your list. i do that for everybody i work with!

Here are the instructions for the older version of Facebook: http://journal.drfaulken.com/how-to-group-privacy-settings-on-facebook-via-the-friends-list-tutorial/

Same concept applies to the current version, but the menus are in slightly different places.

For example, to create a friends list go here: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/friends/edit/

For privacy settings go here: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/settings/?tab=privacy
and then click "customize settings". From there you can click on the drop downs and choose "customize" and enter the group name in the "hide from these people" box.

So I'm guessing you don't want me to post those 80's pics of you until you get this figured out, huh?

Actually Pakey, I was working here during the end of my big hair days, so they've see it all. :thumbsup2

Facebook, like many systems, utilize additive security. You give people access to things (and indeed, often providing that access is the starting default). While therefore is a way to specify that certain people are to have more access than others, tThere generally isn't a way of specifying certain people are to have less access than others. You basically have to put "everyone else" in a group, give the group the access you want, and just be sure not to put the people you don't want to have access into that group.

Or you can just defriend them. :)

Nothing is truly private on the internet. Don't put anything into "The Cloud" that you don't want the world to see.

One thing I advise everybody I know to do is have an alias account for game playing. Then you can have all the "neighbors" you want without putting your personal stuff out there. Then restrict the heck out of who you let into your First Name Last Name account.

I don't post anything on my FB page that I'm concerned about, but I'm not sure I want my co-workers seeing my daily happenings either. I don't worry at all about my game playing friends, many of whom are from this Board. It's just a little uncomfortable having attorneys I work with be my FB friends, but it was also uncomfortable to ignore the requests. This is why I very rarely ask someone to be FB friends. I don't like to put people in the position of feeling they "must" accept my request.

This is actually a violation of the terms and conditions. :rolleyes1

But I will say, it is a very good way to get yourself lots of neighbors (from the Facebook fan pages of the games you want to play as well as from the disboards) so that you have enough neighbors to get the items you need to play games like Farmville. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Not really. In FB, the default is access. You can take away that access. For example, you can set it up so that all friends see your wall posts, but you can block your work friend group. It's both additive and subtractive.

My main security concern is that I don't want my work friends to see what my other friends post. I don't care if they read what I post, as I never post anything that I wouldn't want my mom to see (my brother and sister in law are FB friends, so that's always a possibility).
