Just wanted to warn people that Facebook is loaded with viruses right now! I love FB,but just deactivated my account for awhile. 3 of my friends have major computer problems because of a virus they got from FB. One friend had her account and her daughter's account hacked into by some loser who sent EVERYONE on their friend list an email asking all their friends to send $$$ to Scotland where they were vacationing and had their passports stolen!!!! BECAREFUL ON FACEBOOK!!!

as long as you guard your password and don't put anything too easy to figure out you should be okay. Sending money to Scotland is not a virus, scam but not virus. It can happen to your e-mail too. It means that they probably friended they didn't know or one of their friends did and they are paying for it. If you friend only your friends and family and are careful of your selections of "likes" then you should be okay.

Yup,the Scotland thing IS a scam from people who hacked into my friend's FB account. She was not "infected" but "hacked" LOL
Other friends are now dealing with computers that have a virus from FB. They have warned me,I'm passing it along. Careful out there in cyberspace!

I treat FB like I treat anything else on the web...if I don't know what the link is, or who it's coming from (and sounds like it's actually them), I don't click on it!

I don't play games, nor do I download applications or watch others you tube videos . All i do is post a few family pics and status updates. I think that is where people run into issues. Been on now for 3 years and no issues.

The entire Internet - indeed, most every aspect of life - is rife with risks. What matters is whether you conduct yourself intelligently or not. Maxims, such as, "There is no such thing as a free lunch," and, "You get what you pay for," go far toward protecting you from many of the risks.

Same here. :)

Facebook isn't loaded with viruses, users post and perpetuate content that is loaded with viruses. Big difference. If you don't click on links that contain malicious content and have a good password you will be fine.

The other thing to do is only sign onto any service (email, Facebook, banking sites) via their SSL connection if you are using an open public WiFi connection. You would be surprised how many people will just put their password out there in the clear at places like Starbucks. With free software I can sniff every packed that is flying through the air and if they have clear user names and password I am in.

Facebook is not 'loaded with viruses'. The problem is that some facebook users forget that they are on the internet and don't bother to take any precautions to avoid viruses. They click on things willy-nilly and download junk that they shouldn't. Then they're shocked when they have computer problems. These people then blame facebook, rather than taking responsibility for their own actions.
