Facebook Business Pages and privacy

There are a lot of business pages on FB that I wouldn't mind "liking" so I can follow them. But I also like to keep my page completely private. If I like or fan a business page does this then give the page owner access to my profile and all my stuff? And if so can I block that somehow while still being subscribed to the page?

You can block them. I run my work's Facebook and half the time I can't even click on the person's name. I think as long as you have it so that "friends only" or whatnot can see your stuff, then you're fine.

You can block what access they get, but there are some things that you cannot block, such as name and profile photo.

Unless you have an "open" page, the business cannot see you page. It was the whole point of my presentation in creating a Facebook page for our school. It would be one way to communicate with the parents without asking them to over share.

No, you cannot see anything that you don't have marked as being able to be seen by everyone. I have a business page and was just looking at a new person this morning and all it shows is her profile picture and where she is from. Others show more but that is all set in your own security preferences.

Keep in mind that FB often defaults security settings to the most insecure setting, so you deliberately have to shut things down. Indeed, even when the add new security settings, you have to be aware that it is happening, and go in and apply your more restrictive security at that time.
