Face covering enforcement

I made a wry observation about an excessive point and it was misunderstood. This is an issue that is deeply emotional to most people and I should never make a comment about it. I know that but I did it anyway. I apologize to those of you who were upset by a statement I thought was obviously silly. To you this is a very serious subject and I did not take it seriously.
Thank you. We just got word that quarantine has flip-flopped - now NY, NJ, and CT will require a 14-day quarantine upon arrival FROM FL, so transmission rates are a touchy subject right now. I know it’s for health and safety, but I’m salty I might be losing two vacations this summer.

C’mon, Florida, get your numbers down!

I honestly don't think you have anything to apologize for.

I do shake my head some days, though. With everything going on in the world right now, it's amazing that requirements to wear a mask hit such a sensitive button, and is a line in the sand for some folks! But it certainly does generate a lot of discussion and arguing! There was nothing wrong with your hypothetical comment.....

Don’t know if they have or haven’t already decided to do this but they should add the rule that if you want to eat or drink anything you must be seated somewhere to do so. No walking around eating and drinking anything. With the reduced capacity there should be no problem finding a spot to enjoy your snacks. This rule should also stop those looking to get around the mask rule by walking with a drink in their hands at all times. If you are up walking around or on an attraction you have your mask on.

I've been wondering how this would work also. I know I am going to have to be drinking a lot in the heat, and was curious if there is a place you're supposed to pull over every time you need a sip. I didn't even think about how it would work if I need a sip while in a long line. I can't wait until the parks open so we have all our answers. LOL

There are cast members at The Springs walking around enforcing the rule.
I was just thinking about the storm troopers when star wars opened...
I am following this because I have been watching Tim Tracker videos and sea world and universal have issues with this right now.

Neck gaiters...Are these allowed as face masks? Easier for my 5yo to wear and not hurt his ears:) I heard that it was allowed in Disney Springs?

yes they are being allowed at DS, Universal and SW, not expecting the parks to have an issue. As long as they cover the mouth and nose you should be ok

Oversensitivity and intolerance to different opinions is a major problem these days. It's spread even faster than Covid.

so I went to the resort this weekend saw a few people wearing this but now it appears at least according to the resort tv live steam I'm watching that they are not allowed. there is an earless face mask which I used I highly recommend it. It basically is 2 straps around your head vs ears.

I saw different on the video today. maybe they just started to enforce it. They also have been streaming since rope drop this morning not one person with a gator on that I've seen.

Ear savers are great, my kids really like them. I bought them on etsy for $2
Im currently watching a live stream@ disney and the guy has on a gator with ear holes.
Provost park pass on you tube

here is per disneys site
"Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face Be secured with ties or ear loops Be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable"

interesting maybe you have to modify it then. I also think a security guard is more likely to enforce than a CM at the resorts.

the other cool thing i noticed is they have these body scanners you just walk through that seem more high tech than the airport for metal detectors.

There was a CM attending the theme park previews today that was told she couldn't wear a neck-gaiter.

Heres someone wearing one during CM preview.

Why youd want that much cloth on your neck in that heat is beyond me!

It isn't speculation, so it's not "reportedly", it's a first hand account. My daughter (a former CM) is there with her friend (a current CM) who had a gaiter on and was told it had to have loops or ties. Just clarifying that I am not making it up or trolling. :-)
Had you put this information in your other post, I would have worded it differently.

also another thing to say regarding this is compared to anywhere else I've been around Orlando I would say 99% of people followed the mask rule at Disney. I only saw one guy wearing it around his chin and one lady not wearing it unless someone was near by.
