Technically its a question on how to avoid F&W, but you get the drift... :teeth: . We've never been to Epcot during F&W, but will be there soon. While DW and I may have a passing fancy for F&W, I am fairly certain our kids won't care much for it. My question... is it easy to avoid F&W activities and displays. Are there tips I need to know for NOT getting bogged down by anything F&W related. TIA

My biggest suggestion to you is to avoid Epcot on the weekend if possible. Locals flock to the FWF and it gets quite crowded especially in world showcase. Other than that I haven't run into any big problems during that time. Almost everything to do with the festival is located in world showcase. You could actually run through future world and not even realize there is a festival going on. Have a great time!!!

I agree with the previous poster. There are food and wine and margarita and champagne booths everywhere. Even outside of the country pavillions. If you do not want anything F&W related, then avoid WS. Or just stick to your regular touring of the countries. But if you go to WS you will be around lots of booths and people! Hope you have a great time though! :)

I agree with the others. It really gets packed.....seriously, it seemed shoulder to shoulder at times.....it seemed even worse at night, getting close to Illuminations. The booths are set up all along WS. There really is no way to avoid them because they are even set up outside the countries. So even if you just walk around the sidewalk outside of the countries you will run into the booths. On a positive note, it is a great experience because there are some great things available. (There are foods available, not just drinks.)
As others have posted, it doesn't really affect Future World. Everything F&W related is in World Showcase.
BTW, have a great trip!!!!! :wave2: :wizard:
I am looking forward to a trip report and pictures! I haven't done a trip report yet. I guess I am a bad DISer. :guilty:

We just got back from a week at WDW.
If you stick to the Future World area, you will miss most of the Food and Wine information. There is a bit in Future World because the 'headquarters' and some of the presentations are held in the building behind Club Cool (the Coca Cola tasting place).
Future World was very busy over the weekend, but during the week days, it wasn't busy. You will see the Food and Wine booths, but you can walk around WS without them interfering with your touring on most week days. There were some special things for kids - they had activities for kids about peanuts and about honey/bees. We also noticed a lot of little 'special' things for kids; CMs were gently kicking soccer balls with kids in Great Britain and we saw CMs leading games of hopscotch in several areas (even adults were playing).

Thanks for the replies, all. We plan to be at Epcot on Wednesday 10/25. It's not that we don't want anything to do with F&W, but just don't acre too much about it so wouldn't want to encounter pointless crowds. Sounds like if we just do our usual Epcot thing we'll be good. We do usually spend more time in FW anyhow. Illuminations is not part of our plans this trip either so we'll miss that crowd as well by getting out by 9.
