This will be our first F&W visit!!! So excited! Looking over the events and reading some great reviews (from AllEars) got me to wondering....Has anyone taken their kids? I didn't notice any in the photos. Now, of course I don't mean babies or little kids. Mine are 11 and 15 and are used to fancier restaurants and love going to them. Specifically I would like to do the Parisian breakfast (a steal at $40per, IMO) or the Parisian Afternoon, sandwichs, macarons, and bubbles. Or perhaps the Italian regional lunch. Obviously they wouldn't partake of the alcohol and I don't expect a discounted price just didn't know if it's allowed for kids to go. Anyone have any experience with this? TIA

Children can attend, but there aren't many because there is no children's price and no discount for those who do not drink alcohol. There are often children at the least expensive events (e.g. the $15 culinary demos), but few at the more expensive events such as the Party for the Senses. At 11 and 15 your kids are older so if you think they would enjoy themselves they are allowed.

We did the Parisian Breakfast two years ago. It was very informal with a delicious buffet of meats, cheeses and pastries. Mimosas were served to the adults and replenished continuously, but there was also orange juice and water. I didn't ask about soda or any other non-alcoholic beverages. I didn't notice any children, but I didn't look because I was too busy enjoying the food. :goodvibes

We did many pairings on our trip last year. No kids were at any of them. It's just not an environment that a kid would enjoy, even older ones. These are really equal food and beverage events, with as much emphasis on the alcohol as the food, if not more. The hosts are typically the representative of the beverage being featured. The purpose is to learn more about that beverage, at least the ones we went to. Not really a kid friendly meal. DGD is very well behaved and would have no problems sitting quietly and eating a meal at one of these but it just isn't a place I would want to take her. Not because I think kids shouldn't be around alcohol, I don't feel that at all. But I do feel there are some things that are for adults and the food and beverage pairings at Disney during F&W are in that category.

I don't see why your kids couldn't attend the Parisian breakfast, especially if they are going to enjoy it. Now if they were going to just sit there and look at their phones the whole time and take a seat away from someone who would enjoy it, I would say differently (that goes for adults too, which is why I wouldn't book it for DH and I, even if we were traveling alone - DH would not get anything out of it). With space so limited at the event, I wouldn't want to 'steal' a seat from someone who was thrilled to be there.

I would hesitate before booking them at one of the other events that have speakers, courses, etc. My DS is only 3, but my nephew is 11, and I wouldn't think he would get anything out of a regional lunch (though he doesn't love fine dining like you indicated your kids do).

I don't think I've ever seen a child at any F&W event, including the Parisian Breakfast, though that one would be appropriate for ages 11 & 15 if they're interested. The others really would not.

Thanks for the review!!!

Thanks all for the replies. I think we will just do the Parisian breakfast, as that one is mostly about food and not alcohol-there's only mimosa. My girls are obsessed with Paris and will really enjoy it.

I have seen kids at events. It's full price. No discount for kids.

Also, I have seen clueless parents (Not the OP!) just show up with the toddler and then be shocked when they were either told "no" or "pay" The person who used to run the Food & Wine thread told a story of a family who actually reid to leave junior in the stroller just outside the dining area so they could still go (they got told no again!)

That's insane!!! As we all know well...nothing is free in Disney! And too leave them in the stroller!!! Nuts! As I specifically stated in my original post: I am not looking for a discount! I feel the price is terrific for adult or child, and my 15 year old and 11 year old can eat more pastries than any adult! Glad to hear you have seen some kids at the events. Specific events, it's not like I'm trying to take them to a beer seminar or tequila tasting! LOL
