Okay all, this will be our very first F&W. Of the items returning this year, what are your "must eats"?

Ireland -

■Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Baileys Irish Cream Ganache–$3.00

This is my favorite dessert....I stalk the booth when it opens....I bought the cookbook just to get the receipe....

Why can't the restaurants make dessert this good?

I concur with the chocolate Lava cake. Also good are belgian waffle, ravoli and the Swedish meatballs. We are actually at Epcot tonight and had all the above.

Did you see all of the pictures Corey posted? I am droiling just thinking about trying some of the things I'm seeing. Can't wait! :woohoo:

We are here now. Only did a few kiosks on Friday but the Coque a Van in France was wonderful. If you like escargot they are also not to be missed there.

Ok, Cynthia, let me get started here.

As others stated, that Ireland chocolate lava cake with Bailey's ganache is so good, you will want to lick your plate. Best dessert ever for chocoholics. It's small enough that you can come back later and get another one. :thumbsup2

Some items are universally the most popular at the festival. I think the single most popular is the cheddar cheese soup in Canada. I am a little sick of seeing it year after year, that I haven't gotten any in the past few years. ;)

Since I can't go down and enjoy it this year, I can't tell you if certain items are as good this year as in previous years.

That being said, I tend to enjoy:

Australia: Shrimp on the barbie is new, so I can't say, but I always enjoy the lamb chop.

Argentina: Beef empanada. Yum. The beef with chimichurri is usually good.

South Korea: I liked both offerings. Same as last year, the lettuce wraps and the beef dish. The kimchi might be spicy, though.

Germany (and the Brewers Collection, if it's set up like a beer garden nearby):
I have a nice little thing I do here. I suggest you get yourselves one of those Nuernberger sausages on the pretzel roll, then go to the Brewers Collection for some good German beer. (The beer flights of 3 6oz. cups are great for trying different kinds.) I did this last year. You will giggle when you see the sausage to pretzel roll ratio. Let's just say it's a lot of sausage. :rolleyes1

France: I'm a sucker for the escargot hiding in the little buttery brioche rolls. I call them Snail Poppers.

China: Pepper shrimp. I hope it's as good this year as it was last year.

Ireland: While you're getting the chocolate lava cake, don't ignore the lobster and scallop fisherman's pie. It's pretty good, too.

There are new kiosks this year, so it's fun to check out the menu boards in front of each kiosk and take a gamble.

And I want to share something my friend posted on Facebook today. She is currently enjoying the festival on a Saturday, so this is what I consider great advice if you're braving weekend crowds.

Saturday Festival Rules: 1) Get there when World Showcase opens or shortly thereafter; 2) The booths nearest the WS main entrance will be swamped. Go to the middle. Between Morocco and Germany you can find the good stuff with fewer lines. Past Germany the lines get longer. 3) Eat and drink enough samples to be full and happy - then get out of the park.

Sounds good to me! During the week, the lines are not as long and more manageable.

Got to agree with Lori about the snail poppers. :good vibes

Also in France, the coq au vin sue gratin de macaroni (chicken cooked in wine and served over mac 'n cheese) was great. We are definitely going back for more of that.

My friend posted a pic of coq au vin and said, it looked ugly but tasted good.

You guys are making me hungry. I don't know if I can hold out until Thursday when Pam and I get there.:cool1:
