I disagree with many things posted on these boards and sometimes I voice those disagrements...but I am very greatful that a forum exists for people to express them. I guess if I wanted to reply in kind to your well thought out posting I could suggest that since WDW is in America...and this forum is in America....that its none of your concern...or should i go through a litany of your countries short comings? But that would be childish and solve nothing. I hope others here will not let their voices be quieted on thier opinions on this or any issue...irregardless if I or anyone agrees with them.

Banned with good reason. Last time I checked, WDW was private property and they can issue any rules and regulations they wish.

Thats not really true at all. Just because they are private property doesn't mean they can do whatever they want. Just look at the Augusta Golf Club, where they play the masters.

I think banning the shirts in ridiculous.

I think the worst "Butt Billboard" I have seen is "Bootylicious" LOL Put that on a teenaged girl, put her in a themepark or anywhere for that matter and you will hear comments and snickering trailing behind her.

I dont like the shirts either and did see one at the Waterpark and had to do a double take. My college instructor uses that Cambridge story and others to teach us how children learn to read, so when I saw the FC shirts that was my impression of what they were trying to achieve was to write a vulgarity across the front of a shirt.

Ok, first of all I am very Glad that Disney is doing this...It is about time that they get back to the dreams of Walt. He wanted a safe environment for his children to be able to go and have fun with their parents. Disney needs to continue this in all of their parks, on the cruises as well as their television stations.

Don't get me wrong, I love Disney! I can't wait to go back. I just think they need to get back to their original values.

Yes, Disney does have the right to "limit" what is worn in their parks. No I don't think they will ever require that all clothing be "Disney". That would be just plain stupid. And as far as comparing it to Augusta! Ok, don't get me started there. Augusta is a privately owned country club and can determine who they want as members. I personally hope that it continues to stay the way it is! (And I am a female!) I am all for womens rights, however, I don't feel that attacking the integrity of a golf course is the way to do it! I think the women need to start their own golf course to hold their "masters" at and make it women only. Really some people will just take things way too far!

And for Alcohol at Disney, Yes I find it very inappropriate! My reason being that because of the amounts of crowds there, Disney can not possibly police everyone. Some people only require one drink to become rude and obnoxious while it may take someone else 7 or 8! I don't disapprove of DTD/Pleasure Island. I think it is a good way for them to allow alcohol but in a moderated manner. Much easier to monitor someone in the smaller setting. Also, because of the time restraints on children in that area, no worries to parents about what their children may see.

I am not a prude in any way, but I do think there is a time and place for everything. Disney is not the place to get drunk or to wear explicit clothing or clothing that I wouldn't let my child sleep in much less wear in public!

Ok, flame away...I am just glad to see Disney getting back to some moral values, now if only other "family" places would do the same.

You are right on target and I agree with most of what you said! Disney is generally geared toward kids in mind. To have the acroynom F.C.U.K is totally unacceptable and undigified and yes, extremely TRASHY. Disney in my mind should have a higher standard then most amusement parks and ban this shirt and other shirts that are OVER the Line!

As for the drinking part, I personally don't mind that. We are social drinkers and have a glass or two of wine or margarita's in EPCOT.

I don't have a problem with social drinking at all. The problem comes in that not everyone is responsible in only having a drink or two. Because of the large crowds I just don't see how Disney could possibly monitor drinking done in the parks. Nor do I expect them to be able to. That is why I like the idea of DTD/Pleasure Island so much. It's just a shame to me when you see so much on tv, look at the recent outbreak at the basketball game. Just seems to me that alcohol should not be served in uncontrolled areas where children are.

Grendel - thanks, I agree. I didn't realize until your post that that poster was from the UK. When I thought they were from the US, I was just assuming it was someone who was frustrated with the morals they were seeing here. But for someone from another country, it does seem quite insulting!

As for folding waistbands down, I honestly think it began because on many of that type of shorts (I've owned some personally over the years, without slogans on the rear), the inside of the waistband is a type of rubbery material that sticks to your skin if you don't have your shirt tucked in or a leotard or something under it. I think they originally started folding it out once so the softer fabric was against their skin. That it's degerated into a different objective I don't doubt (and I'm not even sure all of them have that type of waistband), but I think at some point there was actually a reason!

You know you might be right (at least for DD), the kind DD got for gymnastics in the parade, was a white rubbery wasitband! LOL! Not exactly attractive to have flipped inside out. When I asked DD "why?" (besides the obvious almost everyone else on the team does), she said "It's more comfortable". She's real picky about her waistband stuff (hates belts, doesn't like certain sweats because of the way the waistbands are, doesn't like jeans, etc...) So, it made sense but seemed to be a weird fashion statement too. Although, I've noticed they have started making some in the stores "appear" to have the waist flipped down but it's not really - just looks that way! So, they can get the proper size (instead of 1 size bigger so that when you flip it down, it's still a respectable length!). Ah well, she doesn't wear them anywhere except at practices anyway (and honestly, of course, the fact that it's wintertime and you'd freeze - the more I think about it, the only place I see these shorts around here IS at the gym at practices/meets!) I can't recall ever really seeing them when we are out & about normally (but I *know* they exist and people must be buying them & wearing them).

Umm... Have you ever traveled to Asia?
And - that is NOT to insult our Asian friends!
Just that much of what you read in the papers
about us doesn't hold a candle to the reality found
in some of the large cities in the East (Singapore, Bangkok, etc.).
And, no - I am not calling these cities "sleaze capitols."
Every major city in every country has their own brand of sin,
so no one has a "high horse" to ride, IMHO.

This thread is about the French Connection U.K.
deciding their name wasn't good enough to
grow their business, so they had to target the teens
in a base & crude manner.
Whenever you look at their acronym (which isn't one, really),
your brain automatically wants to convert it
- that was their plan & it works,
which is why Disney banned it from the parks,
and others from their homes.
