I've just had stitches removed from my eye and been given eye drops that need to be kept in the fridge. I've been told I need to take them for the next month.... we fly out in 2 1/2 weeks time!!

So.... my question is how am I going to store these drops during the flight?? We fly VA - any chance they will keep them in a fridge for me? Do you think I need to ring the airline in advance?

At the moment I have to take them 4 times a day which will pose another headache about how to keep them cool while in the parks.... but I go to see my consultant in 2 weeks time and I'm hoping he'll reduce it to 2 times a day or possibly even take me off them altogether.

Hi don't panic :goodvibes. There is a carrier that you can buy for about £15 that keeps medication cool. I think its called a frio bag (I will go and check its name when I get home. Loyds chemist used to sell them - not sure if they still do, if not you can buy them on line. The carrier is like a large gel envolope - the gel comes dry and then is soaked in cool water to charge it. To get round any issues going through airport checks what we do is keep it dry until through airside then soak it and put the medication in for the flight. It keeps meds cool for days. Ironicly it also stops meds from freezing in extreem cold temps- We used it in lapland!!

:goodvibes I knew someone on here would be able to help!!

Thank you so much - I am no longer in a panic!

Are the bags reusable?

yes the last for years- you just need to make sure that they are completly dried out before storing away.

I'm sure there is a facility to keep medication cool at the first aid station in disney. Hopefully someone knows for sure or ask on the DISabilities board.

where you staying?
if on site you can get the fridge free as its for medical reasons
Paul

That looks like a great product; hopefully we'll never need it! but Thanks for sharing the info MacKay_J

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll check out that link mackay_j.

paulh - we're staying at ASMo. I read somewhere on here that there are now fridges in the rooms but if not I will let them know why I need one -thanks for that tip.

dixonsontour - that would be great so I don't have to carry them around at all. I'll go on the DISabilities board and see who can help there.

Thanks everyone :grouphug:
