Right now i am working part time in a sandwich shop (it goes to the Disney addiction) 2 days a week. But before that when i worked full time i was a photographer, and ran a professional photo lab.

Tara, i am SO envious of you! I have wanted to HS the kids for a while now, but i just don't have the organizational skills to do it. Just not very happy with the public school system. That and i'm tired of fighting with them about me not vaccinating my kids.
Oh well, back to piracy!

I am a Human Resources specialist at a large state agency. Can't be online too much during day except breaks and lunch. I have 2 kids, ages 8 & 10.

More pictures to come....

I like finding the ones that elicit a reaction. Some pics of Johnny just don't do a thing for me and then POW, along comes one that takes my breath away or makes me laugh.

Hope to find more pics for everyones enjoyment.

I am a school bus driver. Have been doing it for 5 years now. I am also a mom to two boys (Mason 11 and Alex 9)

I am a SAHM to three jr. wenches in my siggy. (BTW, my 4 y/o does a dead on "Son, I'm Capt. Jack Sparrow, Savvy?) Believe it or not, they are homeschooled, so in between my staring at these pics, I am actually educating my children.

count me in 3 crumb crunchers that I homeschool, even while I stare at all these very educational pictures :artist:
I mean it is art..right? Just the other day we watched the 2nd disc of the COBP and saw how they made the movie and stuff...I got to watch the Capt with good excuse as my kids were educated...life couldn't be better!

I also work from my home. I sell puppies for others online.

I put my time in punching a time card, but when i had my first son 10 yrs ago, there was no way i would let others take care of him. So, I became a SAHM who found a way to work from home

Sherrie, I don't have great organizational skills either. I knew there was no way I could "unschool" or do my own curriculum b/c we would never get anything done. I chose to use Calvert b/c everything you need comes in a box including lesson plans. All you have to do is turn to lesson X and it tells you what pages they should read, what questions to ask them afte reading, and then what work they should do. It comes with answer keys for daily work and then her tests(every 20 lessons she has a test) get sent back to her teacher at the school to be graded, commented on, and sent back to us. It's like Homeschooling for Dummies. She was in a private school since 1st grade(she's in 5th now) and we just weren't real happy with them. She's a dancer(Ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop) and she plays the guitar(electric, there should be a smilie covering it's ears) so she gets plenty of socialization. Maybe you should try it for a year. You can always send them back if it dosen't work out. DD4 also does the kindergarten course through Calvert, but it's alot more relaxed(no test, but you do send specified lessons to the teachers.) Ok now I feel like because I brought us totally :offtopic: , I need to put a Johnny pic. in this post. Be right back.....

Tara,
Hmm.. i willhave to look into that. DH is totally inf avor of HS, but told me that I couldnt do it until i was organized enough. He says that since NJ is SO relaxed (As i am sure you know) with HS rules it would be easy for me to get lazy and they would fall behind.

And now for a Capt. pic:

I love that pic, it has that "little boy" charm that is SO attractive!

your DH is sadly mislead..not sure how you would be "organized" enough? Is that like "when its the right time to have a baby" argument some men give?
The most unorganized hs mom, is most likely still better than a public school. What the kids there have to teach your kids, your kids don't need to learn!

Not to mention even if you did nothing but provide lots of books your kids would still learn..ask any unschooling mom .
You just take things one subject and day at a time..your kids will learn.

I'm so happy. I just got my aztec gold necklace I ordered from ebay along with the davy Jones key necklace. It's heavier than I expected, but I love them. Just waiting on my silver one(patiently).

Pickles,
What he means, (and i admit it is kind of true) is that i start off really gung ho about new projects, but after a while if no one is around to make sure i keep up with it, i tend to just drop it and slack off. And when you are talking about education you can't really do that. MY DS is ADHD/Sensory Impaired, and while he is one of the smartest kids in class, he often gets lost in a sea of other kids who don't need the extra time and attention he does. I don't worry about socialization, since his disabilty has made him a social leper at school anyway, and i think that contributes to his school problems. He is in 2nd grade, but reads books that are considered 1-2 grades above his age level. He likes Magic Treehouse, Hardy Boys, and is slowly working his way through Treasure Island (I know a pirate already! :D)
I don't want to turn this into the Jack Sparrow/HS thread so i think i will pop on over to the HS thread and see what others have to say about HS with his problems. And now since i feel compelled to post a pic every time i go OT, here is another Jack pic:

Now for the question of the day. I'm a project manager at a major telecommunications company. At least I am right now. If I don't control myself better with this thread, I'm not going to have a job. Good thing my boss is a major JD fan too.

I've wished I could home school but being a single mom, I need to pay the bills.
