On ABC right now Extreme Makeover has a little girl on that said Disney Vacation Club sent them to HH. Not sure how much taping is done there but just letting yall know.

They just showed Jim Lewis giving the family 3 more years of vacation in Big Murgies Den. That little girl definitely deserves more fun in her life.

I know she is a special little girl, and i'm such a baby i've been tearing up the whole time. I'm so excited for them with DVC membership, they're gonna have a lot of fun.

The words that he used were "the next few years." I assume that they gave them a regular membership, but didn't want to use the words lifetime, given the cirucumstances???
So that makes sense.

edit: or maybe it is just the next few yers, but seems weird to me.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that they were doing some 3 year trial memberships. Many other timeshares do this so I wouldn't be surprised if DVC is doing it as well.

That was a great episode. I was so surprised to see HH as the vacation destination. The family got a relaxing vacation, a 3 year DVC Membership and a terrific home.

yeah, I assumed that they went to HH instead of WDW, due to the immunities issues with her cancer treatment.

I too am a bit perplexed by the 3 years... Its great, don't get me wrong, but it does feel a bit stingy. - And yes, I know it is expensive for DVC... I really hope that they gave them enough points to really go in style for the next 3 years!!!

I'm on the West Coast and after reading this thread, I waited to hear what they received. If you heard her mom, she said that they live each day to the fullest and I'm gathering the unsaid words are "as if they are the last".
There might be some other circumstances behind the 3 years...and as we all know DVC is just the room, so is Disney picking up the site costs of meals and activities and what about transportation? IF the DVC membership also includes all the other costs for the family (which I know we don't get) then 3 years of memories is priceless for them.

We can question the details, but in the end, that is one incredible child so wise beyond her years. So I say, let them build as many memories as they can.

Disney gave away three-year DVC memberships (called DVC SampleEars) as prizes in the Disney Movie Rewards instant win game over the summer.

I watched last night and sat and cried. What a special little girl so brave. Like another post had said I wish they would have given her full membership.

I saw this last night too. It really puts things in perspective. I can't imagine what it is like to have a terminally ill child. My heart is aching just thinking about it. Every day is a blessing for this family. I need to remember this whenever I think I'm having a "bad day". I think it was great that DVC gave them 3 years of vacations.

That little angel deserves the world. I will be praying for her. I too felt that 3 years was not enough. They should have given them a complete membership.

well, I ruminated on this last night. I wondered to myself that if they did give them a full membership with all MF included (like one of the YOMD 2008 prizes), what kind of taxes would one have to pay on a reward like that.

It may very well be that this family wouldn't have been able to handle that right now, what with all the medical bills and stuff.

So it may have been a really good thing that it was a temporary deal.
