Extreme Makeover: TAGLIARCHY Edition

Just a quick post before for now. I have several more errands to run before it's time to pick Ian up from camp.

The roof is literally coming down today. I drove up a few minutes ago to see them ripping off the roof & shingles, and taking down some of the structure. I don't think the alarm on the house is working anymore either. I got some great pics - been taking them several times a day to track the progress - and will post some later today when I have a few minutes to transfer them.

Cell service works pretty well in Mexico with most carriers. We are here if you need us.

NC Belle I ordered a Nikon Coolpix L4 from Abe of Maine. It was the Cheapest price on the internet. It is very light, 4 mp, 3X zoom, uses SD cards which we have, and if he drops it down a canyon I won't have heartfailure ( as long as he saves the SD card with the pictures LOL)

SLO - My girlfriend went through real estate school - I know you can do it, one tip - she hired a tutor before the test - it cost some money but she passed on her second try... so just a thought. Here's a little cheer for you! And a little just in case you need a little help!

It's been like Grand Central Station around here lately so not much time to sit on the computer. Every afternoon Ian and I go outside to watch the construction. It's amazing to me how quickly it seems to be going right now. Day before yesterday the wall of the garage was removed and yesterday part of the roof came down.

Yesterday we went outside to watch the construction workers for a while then came in for a snack. Then we went back outside to watch the guys "close" up the house for the night. But when we came back in again it smelled like gas - they moved the gas line and when it was flushed must have gotten into the A/C intake. We ended up sitting in the car watching Winnie the Pooh for about an hour before coming back in. Today OF found out that we actually had a small leak all night long, but it's been fixed.

Here are a few pics of the work being done on our house. This is how our house (the garage) used to look - after they poured the floor for the new section of garage.

This was while they were taking down the brick - they kept it to reuse.

This was day before yesterday when they framing the new section of garage.

This was mid-day yesterday when they were removing part of the roof.

Last night we have a giant blue tarp covering the opening in the attic and the top of the new section. What I didn't realize until I started a load of laundry last night was that they removed the door between the garage and the laundry room and it's just covered with a piece of plastic. It's a little disconcerting since there had been a locked door between the construction and us - when they start working at 7am and I'm still not dressed yet - and now there's not. It's going to be about a week before the door is back, too.

Another side to the construction, yesterday when I got home the workers asked what's on the other side of the water heaters because they heard something fall. It's our bathtub and at first I didn't think anything of it. But then I remembered that I had a Disney Classics Collection piece - Jessica & Roger Rabbit - on the shelf over the tub. My heart just sank when I saw it smashed in our tub. That was the first real gift I gave to David when we were dating. Luckily I found another one on e-bay with about an hour left to the auction AND I won it.

This is the Disney Classics Collection piece I replaced today. I won the auction for less than the original retail price, I guess a good thing. I just wish I hadn't needed to do that. At least it's a lower number than the one that broke - it's a special 10th anniversary LNE piece.

Couldn't see the photos for some reason... but I work for a company that lays gas lines - I hope to God they got your leak fixed properly! Can you verify that with them? I don't want to worry you - but that is not something you want to fool around with!

It will be wonderful when everything is done! I had yard work (major) done last year and it is so nice the process is over and can be enjoyed!

I am sorry about your collection piece, glad you found a replacement! Ok, peeps - I'm leaving work now. Have a great evening.

Good Thursday morning everyone!!!

Yawn I am so tired

. I've been staying up late studying every night, and I think it's catching up with me. My first test is Thursday (a week from today) and I am getting really nervous . It is over the first 10 chapters, and there is so much information in those chapters. I'm just glad that the test is before 4th of July so I don't have to worry about it and I can enjoy the holiday.

I see the mods have rearranged the smilies again . I wish they would make up their minds so I can figure out where everything is. This is a good change though, because I didn't like yesterday's arrangement at all

Thanks!!! I can use all the and I can get!!! The tutor is a good idea, I will have to ask my teacher if she knows of any.


RRBB - Wow, you have a lot going on around your house. Thanks for the posting the pictures, you have a beautiful home !! You are going to like that addition on the garage, especially when Ian starts having more outside toys and bikes to store. I would be nervous about not having that door too, I probably wouldn't be getting much sleep . I am so glad that you were able to replace your Collection Piece so quickly - thank goodness for EBay!!!

TiggersPal, last night I got home and the attic was exposed. There was still no door in the Laundry room. I was afraid that IAN would find a new pet rat coming in from the open roof. They sent someone to boaed up the hole.
