I was thinking of applying for a home makeover but I feel a little guilty, like maybe there are people who are more deserving, but after last night I might think twice. I printed out the application but threw it in the garbage on Friday when I cleaned off my desk.
My situation is: I was a nurse but got Cancer. Had a total mastectomy, had chemo which caused me to be hospitalized 5 times. Chemo caused me to not heal so I had an open chest wound from Sept until April when I finished chemo. I had nurses 3 times a day to do dressing changes. I had 38 radiation treatments. I now have neurological problems from the chemo and I can't work anymore.
I have a good friend Richie, who I was going to marry but we knew it was not for the two of us. He got Lyme disease and couldn't work. He lost his business, filed bancruptcy and went on SS. He gets about $1000 a month and can't afford a rent so he lives in my basement family room.
He took good care of me when I was sick, and on the day I was released from my last hospitalization he had a massive heart attack and had a shunt put in a blocked artery. Last year he had another heart attack and had a triple bypass.
Before he got sick we started redoing my house which is very old. Most of the rooms are 1/2 done and neither of us have the energy to finish, and now that I am on disability I don't have the money to hire someone.
Two of my sons live with me but they are 27 and 23. They don't know how to do any construction and Richie tried to talk them through projects but it is too hard and he got frustrated.
My older son and DIL lived with us for a while but when they had the baby we couldn't all fit in the house anymore so they moved into her mother's house. They live in the basement but it is very damp and the baby's clothes always smell musty when they bring him over.
The application is about 10 pages but making the video according to their specifications will be difficult. But I think I will get it out of the garbage and work on it. Peggie
