They were "supposed to" return home between 2 and 3, but once we were there, it was evident why they announced an earlier time than the approx. 4:30 time that they arrived. That is when they do all of the crowd shots. The "move that bus", etc. Some people were leaving as we arrived because the saw the bus move and the limo pull up. They said that the family was already inside. Not so. It was one of many rehearsals that took place right up until almost 4 pm.
Here are pictures of MUD! It was everywhere. I wore my old shoes, having made a couple of trips to the site already. I wish that these were SCRATCH AND SNIFF pictures, because words do not do justice to this mud. It odor was between sewage and a pig farm. It didn't stop the kids from having a good time however.

It will be the 2 hour premier on September 27th. I was standing with three of the young men from Pecoy builders. They were very proud of their boss, Kent Pecoy. They said that Kent builds very exclusive houses and this was one of the most "tricked out" houses they have built. These young men, in their mid 20s had been there since 9 A.M.....the morning before. The house is not as big (above grade) as was originally reported. It really isn't that big. There are two bedrooms upstairs for the girls. The master bedroom is on the first floor.
In the basement there is a large media room. Off of that main room are 7 cubical type areas with sliding "barn type" doors for privacy. I haven't seen them. That is just how the three members of the construction crew described them to me. They couldn't get a permit for enough bedrooms/bathrooms for 13 people, so that was the 'compromise'. There is a full bath upstairs, one in the master, and I think one in the basement and one in the mudroom area. I don't know what is a "full" or a "half".
They used a lot of colors; orange, purple, pink, etc. Some of those may be in the cubicles. One of the girl's bedrooms is brown and pink with a mural on the windowed wall that is completed by the shades. (didn't see that either).

Dawn, what town was this in?

Suffield! :yay: Rumor has it that we are $30K in the hole as of Friday. The building, electrical, plumbing, septic, etc inspectors were needed around the clock so construction could continue around the clock. I am not sure that they donated their time.

hmmm-- so I wonder how all this works -- they are in my town (about 8-10 hrs from CT) & our 'move that bus' is on Thursday................

Ty Pennington was here on Sat -- I'm not sure who else (star wise) was in this area or for how long.

I wanted to share some pictures from yesterday at the site- my shift was from noon - 4 pm and aside from bringing tons of water bottles to the workers and volunteers, we had a spot just next to the garage for the entire afternoon - including the family arriving. Dawn was correct in saying that this was not done Suffield style but Hollywood style - complete with retakes!!!
pix 1- i was lucky enough to be right by the house (my family always says i take good pix but am never in them!)

Great pics! I heard today that the house has geothermal heating and cooling. That's a big plus! noticed that all of the labels were removed from the water bottles. Must not have been an "advertizer".

Thanks Dawn for not forgetting us and bringing all those pics back for us, LOVE that house!!!! WOW. I can't wait to see that episode now. So has your son talked to his best friend yet, do you think your son will spend much time at this new house as his buddy?:)

Hey!!! I know that lady!!!
Glad you could be there to help and be a part of a wonderful experience!

Can't wait to see the show!

What a wonderful gift and a beautiful house. I will mark the calendar to watch the show. My DB was the contractor who painted the house that was done for the family in NH who lost their home to a flood a couple of years ago.

Yes. He said that they stayed at the Grand Floridian; all expenses paid and they had a front of the line ticket. They ate a Bomas. I think that they actually move in today. It was delayed for the certificate of occupancy. They can't take their stuff out of storage, hang posters, or personalize it in any way. ABC has the right to come in a shoot more footage. Don't know if they will hang there. His friend usually came here. They usually went to the school to play basketball, but now there is a half court so I guess they could play there. ;) I have given him plenty of rides home. At least now it will be easy to find his house after dark.

The house looks more reasonable then most they have done. It seems to fit the neighborhood better. What a fun experience for the town too.
