We have a lake view for 9 nights to include two weekends, saves on vacation and requires less time out of school for kids. For a 2br it is 85pts :scared1: more total for a MK view over a LK view and 122pts more than a BW view 174 SV at BWV:scared1: :scared1: ......seems steep to me wondering what my DISBOARD friends think:confused3

This morning the MK view was available but passed........but the disgeek in me has me wondering:confused3

We'll likely spend some of our vacations in an MK view room, but for our trip this December, I just called today and canceled my wait list for MK view. So I guess that's my answer. :)

You know, it just occurred to me - I wonder what the view is like from the skybridge between BLT and the Contemporary main building and whether or not it will become a popular place for people to stop and view the fireworks... probably not a good view, but now I'm curious...

The Lake View from the California Grill is breathtaking IMHO. I don't think you can go wrong with either view.

In 2003 for a total room cost of about $100/night, we were upgraded to a MK view when the Contemporary was doing double duty as SOG and loved it! But, the author of the UOG has always said the the view of Bay Lake at the Contemporary was one of his favorites in the World. Maybe you can try a MK view on another trip when you plan to spend fewer nights. Best of luck in your decision -- Suzanne

For our normal vacation, the upgrade to MK view is 15 to 35 points (Studio or 1BR). We have enough points to do this upgrade and think we will appreciate the view.

In the event that MK view isn't available, LV will be a nice substitute.

If I was in your situation and you can afford those 85 points, then I would probably upgrade.

If those 85 points would mean a smaller trip next time, or a downgrade in room (ie: must do a studio next time instead of a 1 or 2 bedroom), then I would not worry about the view.

We're going in Oct. with two families. One already has the harder to book MK view and the other we're going to try to book the lake view at 7 months. We're going to do a little compare/contrast. Until it's actually opened nobody will really know, but I think it will come down to personal taste.

I see us begining or ending our trips for a few days at BLT in a MK view room.

We have the 85 pts put would rather save them. Someone brought up a good pt on another thread that the higher up rooms might not be done yet? With my luck I would get a lower floor and not sure what that would provide? It would be cool to sit on porch and watch the fireworks, the kids would love it. Hmmmmmmmmm..........I'm sure I will change my mind mutliple times and it probably isn't even available anymore. However, we do have AP so we can just go to MK everyday and watch the fireworks too.

I guess I'm just floored and excited to get to BLT period so having options is probably overload for me. Anyway thanks for the input!

I thought I saw a vid somewhere where the rooms seemed more complete higher up and as it panned down the rooms were identical but less finished.

How many people are actually going to watch the fireworks from their room? Seems to me most people will be in the park, at a restaurant or on a beach. Save your points and watch the fireworks from somewhere other than your room.

I added on BLT for it's location to MK. I booked an MK view this october, but i doubt i would get the MK view every time i stay there. I'm sure it's nice to check out the MK view once in awhile, but i'm sure i'll be happy with any views being that the resort is still so close to MK.

We booked MK view for our Sept trip, but that's b/c I wanted to splurge (booked a GV too, which is also a big splurge for me). Not that I wouldn't do it more than once, but it's definitely not the norm for me to spend so many points one one vacation (I'm usually VERY cheap with my points! LOL!!), but for me it's worth it for special occassional splurges!! :goodvibes

I would prefer a lake view room. The thought of drinking my coffee on the balcony in the morning sounds very relaxing. DH on the other hand wants a Magic Kingdom view. So our first trip will be two days of a MK view. Next trip will have a lake view.

We want the lake view. MK view isn't worth the extra points, to us. We have to have a 2BR, so you're talking about a decent point difference for a week. Dh would prefer the lake view. I figure we wouldn't be watching the fireworks from our room all that often, anyway, so why pay extra?

YMMD, of course.

I'm pretty point poor, so I don't foresee me staying there in anything but a lower point studio. I would have hard time using as many points it takes for an MK view in the larger villas even if I owned more points. It would be a very cool view (it had better be!) but too rich for my blood.

I'm doing studios with a Lake View end of Nov/early Dec and then a MK view for us + std. view for my parents in Jan/Feb. So, I'll be seeing all three views (and taking pictures) within 2 months of each other. I'll be sure to report the results of my research! :)

We booked MK view this December because it's our 1st stay home. In the future I see us booking Std or LV to save the points. I'd rather stay longer and forget the view.

I would suggest you (if BLT is not your home resort) to take the MK view now that "non BLT owners" have the chance............ there is another thread asking why there is availability in the 7 months frame and most believe it is due that is not yet sold.

Maybe once BLT reaches more owners it would be harder to get that view. Remember most of us have buyed there just because LOCATION and of course VIEW

That's an interesting question to me because I ranted and raved about being four points short for the MK view with the new points charts. So, we canceled the first contract for 64 points and then wound up buying 102 points. Hearing people talk about conserving their points struck a chord with me because we love the BWV Boardwalk view but find that we only book it for our December trip, preferring to save our points by booking standard view at other times of the year. Because we had to give up the Boardwalk view when DH was sick, I just used our holding points and I was only able to get preferred view, pool or garden. It's killing me to use all those points and not have the Boardwalk view. So my point after all that rambling is that although we have enough points for three nights in an MK view and we have that booked for December, it will be interesting to see if it is worth it. When we were on the monorail last month, I noticed the MK castle looked pretty small when we were by the Contemporary. I think we, and you, are going to have to see it in person in order to decide if it is really worth it. So I think you should definitely stay there at least once and then you can make up your own mind.
