Not quite sure where to put this since I am very new to DVC. I have 6 points that need to be used by July 31st, 2025 and I am not quite sure what to do with them? Any suggestions?

Only thing you can do is make a reservation with them for a night by borrowing from the next UY, or buy OTU points to supplement.

Then either use or offer it for rent…using our board…if you meet qualifications or contact a broker like DVc Rental Store.

You could also sell a transfer at a discounted price to someone with a reservation by the end on July, so they can swap current UY points for those and bank the others. If it's worth all the effort is up to you to decide.(honestly, I wouldn't bother).

I hate to waste points but 6 is not the end of the world.
I would rather lose those 6 then borrow from the next year in hopes you get something that is rentable this late in the game.
With the broker they are not paying that much for last reservations.
I haven't logged into check availability so this is just an example and also assumes that you do not have MMB.

For 7/4 a BWV Resort studio is 16 points.
You would need to borrow 10 or buy 10 OTUP at $20 so that is $200.
If you are then renting it at the reduced price of $14 a point that is a total of $224.
You have to pay taxes on that $224 so I just don't see it as worth the risk in my opinion.
Even if you were not paying anything and borrowing those 10 the likelihood of getting someone to rent the reservation is slim and then you are already down points for your next year's vacation.

You might be able to just transfer the points to someone that has a current reservation that they could incorporate your points into and then that member could save their 6 points.

Thank you all for your help! I do keep checking to see if any rooms that maybe cost a couple more points pop up for my June reservation, but no luck so far and I am not sure if I even want to risk messing with a reservation that is happening in 21 days.

How does somebody even begin to get into the transferring points world? Like I said, I am very new to this so I do not know anything about transferring or where I would even start.

You have to find someone who would need the points. The rental board here on the DIS is an excellent place, but if you don't qualify to post for free, then paying for a subscription plan probably would cost as much as you could get for the transfer.
If you find someone, call MS in a three way call with the other member and ask to transfer the points. Don't mention that you are being paid for the transfer, it's not allowed (in theory, in practice it happens all the time and MS close both eyes).

If you can get $12pp it means $72, on top of which you need to pay taxes. Not worth the effort. Maybe gift them to a friend.

I don't know if the moderators would allow a gift-for-charity post. Find someone who takes the transfer and in exchange pay to a charity $70 or whatever they want.

This is good idea but you can’t even post on rent trade board without paying so not even with it

Or book short trip and use up the points by adding night or two. Depends on how far you live I suppose. We are in Canada so not easy to do

You only have to pay if you don’t qualify to post for free, which is given to those who are regular members of the DIS community.

You can only request as a reply to someone offering points.

To late to bank and to borrow from next year would only make sense if you can plan a trip or maybe have a confirmed renter… 6 points isn’t that much but I hate wasting points !!
