Extra Points?

I am new at this and have a question for you veterans. I expect to always be borrowing points, but this year have some extra because we got so many developer points. We banked our first year's points. We have two trips booked using our developer points and some of the banked points. We still have about 80 points left that will expire before we can go back to WDW. What do you usually do when you have extra points?

We live on Long Island and I see the Loews Regency Hotel in Manhattan listed in the Concierge Collection. I was thinking of taking the kids into the NY City for the night. Is this a good idea? Any downfalls to using points for something like this?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I would do it! Go wherever you can easily go.

We had some extra points and decided to stop at Hilton Head on the way to Disney last year. We were with friends and lived it up in a 3br grand villa for the night. If I hadn't used the points, I would have lost them, and I didn't have enough to justify another trip anywhere. It was just enough. (Okay, it wasn't QUITE enough for the 3br, but it was too much for the 2br and I just couldn't stand to lose the points... so I did have to borrow a few...)
