Extra Points- Use Year

Can someone explain to me (better than guides I talked to a month ago) how getting extra points when buying direct. If bought next month with a August Use year, they would give us 2022 points that we can then bank? And then we can do magical beginnings for the 2023 points?

When I brought this up to a couple guides when were touring places last month they all looked confused.

If you're still in your UY (such as August), you would get 2022 points. If you di Magical Beginnings, they will take the first year of points (2022 in your case). This is better bc you will get 2023 points on 8/1 which could be banked.

Correct. This is why I bought an October UY last week.

You have to do it before like 5 days before end of July though.

We are currently in the Aug 2022 UY since that runs from Aug 1st 2022 until July 31st, 2023.

So, if you buy today, or before the end of July, you would start with the 2022 UY points. With the magical beginning program, they will buy back the first year points from you.

To be clear, you are not getting extra points but buying in the end of the UY which makes it seem that way.

No, because dues are based on the calendar year and when you become an owner.

Anyone buying today, regardless of UY pays a prorated amount for the 2023 dues from today until the year.

I have emailed the guide we took a tour with to see if this was possible. Before they said it would have to be approved because we have a resale contract. We would end up selling this come January if we did buy direct so we will see!

I am not sure why anyone would have given you this false information. Current member incentives for adding on are the same whether you initially purchased direct or resale. This is different than member perks that are available only to direct purchasers or those who are grandfathered in because they already owned resale prior to the rules changing.
