Extra plate for child & split plate fee

If I ask for an extra plate for my DD3 at a restaurant where they have a split plate fee, will they charge me the fee? I don't want them to split up the meal, I just want to be able to put a portion of my food on another plate for her.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered but I couldn't find it.

There is no charge for extra plates. At character meals each person age 3 and up gets their own plate and is charged even if they do not eat anything.
Otherwise no charge for plates so just ask the CM and she will bring out the second plate

I did this at Blue Bayou for my youngest and was not charged extra.
