Extra Magic Hours?

This is such a great site, wish I found it before booking.
Anyways it's down to the wire for our family and the kids are really excited for their first trip to Disney.
My question is that I've read in some places that you should avoid the parks on the days that they have extra hours because everyone will go. Others say you should take advantage of them .

Also how do you read the Disney calender of their web page. Do the hours they list include the EMH?

First here is a link to the park hours here on the DIS. They are very easy to determine the EMH park as it's in another color.

If you plan on using EMH, then I'd go to that park. The avoiding the emh park is wise if you are not going to be there for EMH. Especially in the morning. By the time regular opening rolls around many of the rides will already have waits. As opposed to a normal morning.

When I look at the link above, it doesn't look like to me that the EMH are included. For example, for the MK it shows 9 - 9 for regular days and the same hours for EMH days. Am I missing something? I would really like to know the EMH hours for our May trip.

The regular hours are what is listed. If that park is a EMH park for that day, just add 3 hours to the closing time, or subtract an hour to the opening time to calculate the actual hours the park is open.

They don't list EMH in the regular open and close times because EMH is only for resort guests. EMH is 1 hour in the morn and 3 hours in the evenings. So just think one hour before the listed opening time and 3 hours more after the listed closing time.
